Vesce was released from his professional tryout agreement by the Oilers on Wednesday.

ANALYSIS
Vesce had not played in the NHL since the 2009-10 and was a long shot to make the Edmonton roster in the first place. It's possible that the winger secures a spot with another team or signs an AHL deal with the Bakersfield Condors, the Oilers' affiliate. Considering very few (if any) fantasy owners would have had the 34-year-old in their lineups, this news is unlikely to cause too much consternation.

Think of Vesce as an insurance policy in the event that established Sharks sustain injuries. Standing at 5-foot-8, 165, his diminutive size is a liability against bigger opponents, but he manages a finesse playing style. Expect the forward to split time between the AHL and NHL in 2009-10.
