Stephenson has yet to break into the NHL, and his taste for penalty minutes and lack of scoring don't figure to put him there any time soon.

Stephenson played in 43 AHL games for Adirondack in the 2010-11 season posting five points and 46 PIMs. Those numbers won’t be enough to get his name on the back of a Flyers jersey in the 2012-13 season, as the Flyers have plenty of depth at defense even with the injuries to Chris Pronger (concussion) and Andrej Meszaros (achilles).

Stephenson will open the season in the AHL, though the 24-year old certainly could get a look from the Flyers as early as this year.
