Thrashers have re-signed forward Kaip, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell, the Thrashers Official Site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Kaip, 25, appeared in 42 games last season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, recording three points (one goal, two assists). The 6-1, 195-pound center played college hockey at the University of North Dakota (WCHA), where he earned 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) and 230 penalty minutes in 143 career games. Kaip was originally selected by the Thrashers in the ninth round, 269th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. You can probably pencil Kaip in for a spot in AHL Chicago next season, where he adds depth to the organization.
