RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Guillame Desbiens.
Desbiens inked a two-way contract with Calgary in 2011 and appeared in 13 NHL games the last two seasons with Vancouver, not registering a point. He posted 27 points to go along with 104 penalty minutes in 53 games with Manitoba (AHL) last winter and could give Calgary another physical player if he joins the NHL squad.
Desbiens has showed shown steady growth over the past two seasons with Manitoba of the AHL, totaling 81 points (40 G, 41 A) in 145 games. Despite the improvements on the offensive end, heís known more for being a physical presence, averaging 152 penalty minutes per campaign with the Moose. The 25-year-old will get a look in camp and could earn a spot on the fourth line with an impressive showing.
Desbians skated with Manitoba of the AHL last season, pick up 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 78 games. He also rang up an alarming 158 penalty minutes. His time spent in the sin bin was amped up due to his role as enforcer for the Moose. Still, the 47-point effort proved Desbians is more than a goon. He could see time as a fourth liner in the NHL if the Canucks have a slew of injuries, but most of his time will be spent with Manitoba again.
