RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Tye McGinn.
McGinn appeared in 18 games for the Flyers last season, averaging just under 13 minutes per game. Though he usually played on the Flyers' first line alongside Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux, he collected a measly five points. McGinn doesn't seem to be a major offensive threat, so if he can stay in the NHL, expect similarly meager numbers this year.
McGinn played his first year of professional hockey with Adirondack (AHL) last season, notching 12 goals and six assists. Eventually, the Flyers will likely look to bring the 21-year-old on board in a bottom six postion, but he’s unlikely to see any consistent NHL minutes in the 2012-13 season.
McGinn, the Flyers' fourth round pick in 2010, put up 156 points in the QMJHL the last three seasons and continues to show upside, though it's unlikely the 21-year-old will be wearing a Flyers uniform for at least another season or two.
McGinn was taken the the fourth round of this year's June draft by the Flyers. He's a ways off from contributing to the parent club.
