RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Brian Gibbons.
Formerly signed by Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent, Gibbons has found moderate success (22 points in 66 regular season games) in both Pittsburgh and Columbus over the past two seasons. The 27-year-old has shown an ability to find the scorerís sheet at almost any level heís played at, but it's unlikely he sees much of an extended opportunity with the Rangers. The forward will likely spend the majority of his 2015-16 campaign with AHL Hartford.
The 5-foot-8, 160-pound Gibbons made his professional debut in 2011-12 after four years with Boston College. The smallish forward averaged better than a point per game his final two collegiate seasons and registered 78 and 79 penalty minutes, respectively. In his first year with AHL Wilkes-Barre, Gibbons collected 11 goals and 30 points in 70 games. His lack of size makes him a longshot to play in the NHL, but if he can score then just might make it.
An undrafted forward who played four seasons at Boston College, Gibbons signed a two-year entry contract with Pittsburgh in April of 2011. The 5-foot-8, 155-pounder served as an assistant captain for the Eagles and scored 18 goals and totaled 51 points in 39 games as a senior. He'll likely start his professional career with ECHL Wheeling.
