RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

There was no outlook written for Shane Sims.

Sims is currently playing his second season in Europe.

Sims played one game with the Islanders as an emergency call up in 2010-11 and has bounced around the minor leagues most of his professional career. Odds are slim he will see much time with the Islanders this year.

Sims did get to play one game for the Islanders last season as they signed him to an amateur tryout when they were depleted on defense. Sims has a hard slap shot that can be deadly on the power play. At best, he could be a solid two-way defenseman who excels at the point with the man advantage. At worst, he is another Marc-Andre Bergeron who is a plus on the power play, but a defensive liability in all other situations.
