Jacobs spent the majority of last season with ECHL Elmira, scoring 13 points and providing 113 penalty minutes in 40 games. A fourth-round pick who has had to work very hard to turn pro, Jacobs is not expected to make significant contributions to the Sabres or with AHL Rochester, where he will likely begin the season.
A blue-collar player who overcame the odds to land a contract with the Sabres, Jacobs split the 2013-14 season with Rochester and Elmira (ECHL). The fourth-round pick from 2011 is considered a depth player for Rochester and will not play a role with the Sabres for the 2014-15 season.
Jacobs improved by leaps and bounds last season, scoring 53 points in 66 games with Prince George of the WHL. He finished the season on a tryout with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate in Rochester and impressed the club enough to earn a three-year entry level contract. He’ll likely spend the full season in Rochester to continue his development.
Jacobs battled injuries and inconsistencylast season and regressed to 19 points in 44 games with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds. The Sabres' fourth-round pick in 2011 will return to junior to play with the Prince George Cougars, a team to which he was dealt in the offseason. He needs a big year in this coming season to earn an entry-level contract with the Sabres, and is considered a long way from the NHL at this point.
Jacobs, the fourth round pick of the Sabres in this summer's draft, is a center with decent size but one who didn't score a ton in 2010-11. He had 22 goals and 22 assists in 68 games with the Seattle Thunderbird of the WHL, where he'll likely spend 2011-12.
