Yogan was reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Yogan posted a minus-1 rating with an assist and one shot on goal in his lone preseason appearance. The Rangers' 2010 fourth-round pick has considerable offensive upside, but it looks like he will require further development time at the AHL level. Yogan has nine goals, 13 assists and 50 penalty minutes through 47 career games with Hartford.

Much like the highly-regarded prospect Michael St. Croix, the 6-foot, 22-year-old Coral Springs, Florida native spent time pacing a point-per-game pace with ECHL Greenville and even getting a promotion to Hartford of the AHL. The biggest difference between St. Croix (fourth-round in 2011) and the team's fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, Yogan found a groove, showing grit (50 penalty minutes) and even contributing offensively by posting five goals and ten points in 40 games played with the Wolf Pack. Yogan, much like St. Croix, found himself back with Greenville for their post-season run, posting 18 points (seven goals) in 17 playoff games last campaign. A long-look at this fall’s training camp is certainly in the works for Yogan, but he's likely in store for a full season with Hartford before he makes his NHL debut.
A 21-year-old center, Yogan was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Almost immediately that year, the 6'3, 210-pound center appeared in two games with AHL affiliate the Hartford Wolf Pack, registering two goals and an assist. In 2011-12, the Florida native turned it up a notch, netting 41 goals (78 points) and collecting 96 penalty minutes in 66 games with Peterborough of the OHL before going pointless in four games with Hartford. While he's not likely to get a call-up to Broadway, he's a solid bet to make the Wolf Pack roster this fall. Keep an eye out to see if Yogan can keep a consistent pace at the AHL level.
Drafted as a fourth-round pick in 2010, Yogan signed a two-way, three-year deal with the Rangers in March of 2012 and is considered a very underrated prospect in the organization. Yoban may start the season with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL, but he's a player to keep an eye on if he's called-up; he recorded 41 goals and 78 points in 66 games with the Peterbourgh Petes of the Ontario Hockey League last season.
