Hansen has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets and been assigned to AHL Springfield, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
ANALYSIS
The former Golden Gopher was a fourth-round pick in 2008 and showed steady development throughout his NCAA career, finishing with 16 goals and 38 points in 43 games last season. Hansen's not an elite prospect, but could eventually find a home in the NHL as a physical checking winger who can contribute something on the offensive end.

Hansen continues to get bigger and stronger, and this two-way prospect could be a year or two away from fighting for a spot in the Blue Jackets' bottom six.
Hansen is a few years from getting a crack at the NHL, but might be able to squeeze out a role for himself as a physical checking winger who can chip in an occasional goal. Hansen put up 38 points in his final year at the University of Minnesota and managed a point in two games with Springfield (AHL) after turning pro.
