Closer Watch

Pirates – Jason Grilli collected his second straight save Monday, and he's smoothly transitioned back into the job thanks to some struggles on the part of interim closer Mark Melancon. It was a nice run for Melancon owners, though.

Cardinals – Trevor Rosenthal picked up his first save (finally, right?) Monday, getting two outs in the ninth after Kevin Siegrist got the first. Edward Mujica's been relieved of his duties after giving up runs in five of his last eight appearances, and it seems likely that Rosenthal and Siegrist will split duties depending on whether the opposition's bringing up lefties or righties in the ninth.

Tigers – Joaquin Benoit, tasked with a multi-inning assignment, blew a one-run lead in the ninth Monday, giving up a homer to the Twins' Brian Dozier. He's still the man for Detroit.
