Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

A pair of Game 3s and Game 4s between the Lightning and Red Wings and Blues and Blackhawks make up the National Hockey League schedule Tuesday.

The Rangers went 27-10-4 on home ice in the regular season and beat up Pittsburgh in Game 2, whereas the Predators will look to take a 3-0 stranglehold on their series against Anaheim.

Here is your value report for the slate.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, ANA at NSH ($31): Since the calendar flipped to 2016, Andersen owns a .926 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA, and he has allowed two goals or fewer in 16 of 21 starts with 17 wins. Anaheim is in must-win mode and is finally turning to its No. 1 goalie. Start Andersen confidently, especially at this cap hit.

Player to avoid:

Pekka Rinne, NSH vs. ANA ($34): Nashville bull-rushing the Ducks again and taking a 3-0 series lead isn't out of the question, but a bounce-back showing from Anaheim is more likely. Rinne entered the playoffs with a .861 save percentage and a 3.92 GAA through his final five appearances, too.

CENTER

Derick Brassard, NYR vs. PIT ($17): Look for another solid showing from the pivot after he posted a goal, an assist and a plus-4 rating in Game 2. This is an affordable cap hit, and Brassard plays all the top offensive minutes for the Rangers. Plus, he was a point-per-game player at Madison Square Gardens this season with 20 goals and 21 helpers.

Player to avoid:

Ryan Kesler, ANA at NSH ($25): Even with his goal in Game 1, Kesler still failed to hit 10.0 Yahoo fantasy points. With Anaheim in a dire spot and generating minimal offense, this cap hit is far too pricey to take a speculative flier on the defense-first pivot. Obviously, there is upside with Kesler scoring 18 goals and 24 helpers through 45 games since the calendar flipped to 2016, but spending up for his ceiling is ill-advised.

WING

Corey Perry, ANA at NSH ($23): After failing to register a shot on goal in Game 2, expect a bounce-back showing from Perry on Tuesday. He entered the playoffs with 11 goals, 10 assists and 53 shots through his final 22 games of the season, and five goals and five helpers came via the power play. There could be against-the-grain upside here, too.

Jaden Schwartz, STL vs. CHI ($16): The pint-sized winger has found the scoresheet in consecutive games, including the game-winning goal in Game 3 on the power play. Additionally, St. Louis is rolling Schwartz out with Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko, and the trio has excellent chemistry. Dating back to last season, Schwartz has combined for 3.47 and 3.11 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five with Lehtera and Tarasenko, respectively.

Player to avoid:

Patrick Kane, CHI vs. STL ($32): With three assists and 13 shots through the first three games of the series, Kane hasn't been a disappointment. But those numbers only approach reaching value on his hefty salary, at best. It isn't out of reach for the superstar, but he also needs a multi-point showing with strong peripherals, and this series has seen limited offense. Additionally, you've got to take a number of speculative fliers down the price chart to fit Kane into your lineups.

DEFENSE

Brent Seabrook, CHI vs. STL ($19): Interestingly, it was Seabrook manning the point on the No. 1 power-play unit in Game 3, and he scored a power play goal with six shots and two blocked shots. There is huge upside at this cap hit given his new role and strong showings in the supporting categories. If the Hawks return Duncan Keith to the No. 1 unit, it doesn't kill Seabrook's value, either.

Brady Skjei, NYR vs. PIT ($12): At minimum price, Skjei is a flier, but the cap relief he provides makes him a viable option Tuesday. Skjei has passed the eye test early in this series with his plus wheels being a noticeable boost for the off-the-rush attack. There is limited risk and huge upside if the rookie can find the scoresheet again in Game 3.

Player to avoid:

Kevin Klein, NYR vs. PIT ($18): The meat-and-potatoes rearguard has flashed offensive upside and posted solid numbers in spurts throughout his career, but with Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi out, Klein slides into a shut-down role, and he also doesn't see power play time. Fade the feisty defenseman Tuesday.
