FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Of all the scary things about Halloween, perhaps the scariest was that there were no NHL games. Fortunately, November is here, and it brings with it 12 games. Here's our attempt to help you start the month off right in daily fantasy.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN at ARI ($8,700): Jones has been inconsistent to start the year, but he's currently on a hot streak, as the Sharks have won three straight with him in net (only giving up one goal combined). The Coyotes' offense has been pretty good, but they've let in 33 goals and have a lot of questions on the back end. Jones has a great chance of picking up a win, and that's the most important thing for a goalie in daily fantasy.

CENTER

Jonathan Toews, CHI vs. CGY ($6,400): Toews is off to a bit of a slow start, with only five points (and one goal) in nine games. However, his track record is undeniable, and he does have four power-play points. The Flames are 25th in goals against and Brian Elliott still has a sub-.900 save percentage. This is shaping up to be a good opportunity for Toews to bolster his stat line.

Victor Rask, CAR at OTT ($5,300): There were those of us who were eyeballing Rask as a breakout candidate before the year, and he's been making us look good so far. He has 10 points in eight games, and is playing more than 18 minutes a night. Rask isn't a big name, and that's part of why he's available at such a good price. Even with Craig Anderson having returned for Ottawa, Rask is still a real value.

WING

Jordan Eberle, EDM at TOR ($6,600): Every Canadian eye will be on all the Oilers-Leafs game for years thanks to the young talent on both teams. However, Toronto's youth contingent still require defensive improvement. Eberle has six points in nine games, but he's also taken 29 shots on goal and he plays alongside Connor McDavid. Having a linemate like that goes a long way, and so does a great matchup.

Brandon Saad, CLM vs. DAL ($6,400): Saad isn't off to a stellar start and his minutes are down, maybe because John Tortorella is trying to make some dumb point. However, he does have four points in his last three games, so maybe he is ready to turn a corner. With Dallas banged up and using two goalies with spotty track records, there's a solid chance his hot streak will continue.

T.J. Oshie, WAS at WPG ($6,100): The Capitals' sticks have been mostly dormant, but that's bound to change. Perhaps a matchup with the young Jets will help make that happen. Oshie does have three goals, but more importantly he's playing 2:37 a night on the power play and he had 11 power-play goals last season. Those opportunities are there, which helps Oshie's potential value.

Mike Hoffman, OTT vs. CAR ($5,500): Hoffman only has one goal, but he's taken 30 shots on goal. That's a shooting percentage destined to improve, especially based on his numbers the last two seasons. The Hurricanes are a team that gives their opponents plenty of chances to get shots on goal, and they're allowing 3.8 goals per game. Hoffman may finally get that second goal on the season.

DEFENSEMEN

Dougie Hamilton, CGY at CHI ($5,800): The Blackhawks have finally increased their penalty kill percentage to 53.1%, but there's a long way to go. Hamilton, who got off to his own slow start, finally scored his first couple of goals and is averaging 3:33 minutes on the power play. Mark Giordano ($6,600) is a safer bet, but if you are budget conscious, Hamilton is the way to go.

Cam Fowler, ANA at LOS ($4,300): It's a little surprising to see Fowler at such a low price, but that just means a nice opportunity for you. He's always been an offensively-minded player and a power-play weapon; this year (seven points, five on the power play) is no different. With no Jonathan Quick for the Kings, Fowler looks to be a tremendous value.
