DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Saturday's schedule on DraftKings is a little unusual. There are two games Saturday afternoon, Tampa Bay-Philadelphia and New Jersey-Los Angeles, followed by nine games in the evening. However, there are no contests being offered so that you can play all the games at once. Here is a quick rundown of players to target in the afternoon, before we get into the usual coverage of the evening games.

GOALIE: Peter Budaj, LOS vs. NJD ($7,400)
CENTER: Tyler Johnson, TAM at PHI ($5,000)
WING: Travis Konecny, PHI vs. TAM ($4,500)
DEFENSE: Mark Streit, PHI vs. TAM ($4,300)

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. COL ($8,200): Dubnyk has the best save percentage in the NHL (.952), while the Avalanche have scored 33 goals over 16 games. It seems like Dubnyk is a great bet to get a win, and he shouldn't be tested too much by Colorado on top of that.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN at ARI ($5,800): The Coyotes have Mike Smith back, but it's not like he's going to completely change the situation in net for Arizona, and the Coyotes have defensive questions anyway. Couture is off to a bit of a slow start (four goals, five assists), but he's averaging 3:23 a night on the power play and he's taken 56 shots on goal. The output should improve.

Leon Draisaitl, EDM at DAL ($4,600): Draisaitl has slowed down a bit but still has 10 points, including one in each of his last two games. Both of Dallas' goalies have sub-.900 save percentages. At this price, Draisaitl is primed to be a real value in this matchup.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS at STL ($5,400): The Blues have the league's top penalty kill, but goalie Jake Allen only has a .904 save percentage. Forsberg only has one goal (on 32 shots, so that should improve), but he also has 11 helpers. He doesn't need to find the back of the net to have value, but he should start scoring more soon anyway.

Patrick Maroon, EDM at DAL ($5,000): We'll skip doing the old trope of "Can you guess who leads the Oilers in goals?" because you can probably guess that it's Maroon. He has netted six goals, and he's added three assists as well. He's taken 41 shots on goal, so it's not a total fluke either. It's already been mentioned how good of a matchup this is for the Oilers, and that includes Maroon.

Mikael Granlund, MIN vs. COL ($3,900): In addition to Colorado's offensive struggles, netminder Semyon Varlamov has a .901 save percentage. Granlund is playing a career-high 19:13 and has nine points in 16 games. He's quite cheap, so it won't be hard for him to earn that value. In fact, he could end up being a real steal.

DEFENSE

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. PIT ($5,200): The Penguins will be on the second night of a back-to-back, which will make things a little more favorable for Ristolainen and the Sabres. He doesn't have a goal yet, but considering that he's taken 34 shots on goal, that's bound to change. Additionally, he has eight assists (six on the power play) and 30 blocks. He's a real workhorse, and that makes it easier for him to generate fantasy value.

Jeff Petry, MON vs. TOR ($4,100): With two more points Friday, a goal and an assist, Petry now has nine on the season. He's playing over 21 minutes a night as well. While the Habs are on the second night of a back-to-back, Toronto is a great matchup, so Petry still looks like a good value.
