Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

With Thanksgiving behind us the NHL is back to packing the Tuesday schedule, and this week there are 12 games. At Yahoo, it's always worth scrolling all the way through the player pool because some solid players can be found at, or near, minimum price. With that said, here are some targets, fades and values to consider when assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. ARI ($34): The second-year Shark has been hit or miss all season, but has still maintained a solid .917 save percentage and 2.15 GAA. Arizona enters averaging the second-fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (8.33) and just 2.22 goals per game (fourth fewest). Jones is reasonably priced, too.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM vs. TAM ($33): The last time these two teams meet there were eight goals scored, and despite allowing just 2.45 goals per game, Columbus has surrendered the sixth-most scoring chances per 60 minutes (22.22). Tampa Bay is also averaging 3.1 goals per game. There are enough options in better matchups, or at better prices, to fade Bobrovsky without fretting about it.

CENTER

Kyle Turris, OTT vs. BUF ($16): Call it a hunch that Turris has a solid outing Tuesday. While rostering players who are on home ice, or are facing a former teammate in net for the opposition (Robin Lehner), doesn't move the needle much as a fantasy strategy, Turris is the Senators' No. 1 offensive center (19:01 of ice time per night with 2:08 of power-play time) and checks in at a discounted salary. It's more than enough to tip the scales in favor of the high-volume shooter (2.49 shots per game since joining Ottawa).

CENTER TO AVOID

Kevin Hayes, NYR vs. CAR ($21): The Hurricanes allow the eight-fewest scoring chances per game (20.33), and Hayes' 28.6 shooting percentage is unsustainable. Additionally, he's only averaging 15:48 of ice time and 1:00 of power-play time over his past six games.

WING

Nikita Kucherov, TAM at CLM ($27): After going without a shot and receiving seven PIM during Sunday's game against Boston, look for a bounce-back outing from Kucherov on Tuesday. His 3.10 points per 60 minutes over the past three years rank sixth in the league, and the Blue Jackets and Lightning combined for eight goals in their meeting Friday.

Filip Forsberg, NAS at COL ($20): The third-year winger has maintained his solid offensive production this season with 2.47 points per 60 minutes (2.58 mark over the past two campaigns), but his 4.4 shooting percentage is significantly lower than his 12.2 mark over the past two seasons. The goals are coming.

WINGERS TO AVOID

David Pastrnak, BOS at PHI ($24): Everything has gone right -- and almost every shot has gone in -- to start the season for Pastrnak, but his current 23.6 shooting percentage is destined for negative regression. This is a hefty salary, and despite the solid matchup (Philadelphia has allowed a league-high 3.3 goals per game), Pastrnak isn't going to score every night. Additionally, he has the potential to be a chalky wing option Tuesday.

Patrick Eaves, DAL at DET ($19): Dallas has a number of key cogs back in the lineup, and most of Eaves' fantasy value has been derived from his role alongside Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn in all situations. Lindy Ruff is notorious for throwing his lines in the blender during practice, the pregame skate and games, which could leave Eaves in a depth role and receiving minimal offensive looks. With a huge player pool, you should aim for more reliability at Eaves' salary.

DEFENSE

Marc-Edouard Vlasic, SAN vs. ARI ($15): After leaving Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury, Vlasic could carry a low ownership percentage in a juicy matchup Tuesday. Before his shortened night Saturday, Vlasic was averaging 21:52 of ice time per night with 2:23 on the power play, and he's registered 18 shots and 13 blocked shots over his past seven games to showcase his respectable fantasy floor. With a solid matchup against Arizona (second-most scoring chances per 60 minutes allowed at 25.08), view Vlasic as a high-floor option with upside Tuesday.

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs. TOR ($15): View Klefbom as a potential lineup building block Tuesday. He's cheap and playing a hefty role of late (22:53 of ice time with 3:56 on the man advantage over the past seven games), which has helped him post three goals, five points, 26 shots and 11 blocked shots during that stretch. Toronto also allows the fourth-most scoring chances per 60 minutes (22.66) in the league.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Shea Weber, MON at ANA ($29): A road date in Anaheim isn't the cushiest fantasy spot, and Weber projects to spend the majority of his night matched up against Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Weber could easily post another big fantasy night, but Getzlaf and Perry have also combined for a solid 55.2 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five dating back to last season. The star defenseman is in danger of spending a lot of time in his own end Tuesday.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI at SAN ($21): The 25-year-old defenseman has been good, but not great of late (three assists through his past 11 games), and this is a potentially daunting matchup. San Jose is allowing just 1.8 goals per game at home, and the Sharks allow the ninth-fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league (9.25).
