DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Here are a handful of selections across multiple price points to consider while assembling your DraftKings lineups.

GOALIE

Ben Bishop, TAM vs. DET ($7,800): A contrarian flier at a discounted salary, Bishop has shown signs of turning his season around with a 2-2-2 record, .919 save percentage and 2.20 GAA through six December starts. Detroit enters averaging the seventh-fewest scoring chances per 60 minutes (25.36) and in a weird spot after their Monday game was cancelled.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. VAN ($7,300): The star pivot has 29 goals, 61 points and 148 shots over his past 54 games dating back to last season, and Vancouver has allowed the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league. Scheifele's 2.83 points per 60 minutes also rank 16th in the league among skaters with 500 minutes this year.

Alexander Wennberg, CLM vs. LOS ($5,900): With the eighth-highest points per 60 minutes (3.09) among all skaters with 500 minutes this season, Wennberg's salary would appear low. However, his six goals and 32 shots through 29 games highlight his lack of upside. Still, if you're looking to create wiggle room under the salary cap, Wennberg has been padding the assist column enough to return value.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS at NJD ($5,800): The 22-year-old winger entered 2016-17 with consecutive 60-point campaigns and 59 goals the past two years, but he's scored just four goals and 18 points this season with a 4.8 shooting percentage. The shooting percentage is unsustainably low and, because of his slow start, Forsberg presents nice value at this salary.

Anders Lee, NYI at BOS ($4,400): Heating up and currently playing with John Tavares, Lee is an excellent value play Tuesday. The 26-year-old winger has nine goals, 11 points and 32 shots through his past 13 games, and his 1.4 goals per 60 minutes rank 19th in the league among all skaters with at least 400 minutes.

Timo Meier, SAN vs. CGY ($3,000): After scoring in his first career game, Meier followed it up with four more shots over 14:38 of ice time in his second outing. He's a gifted offensive talent, and he could return value at his low salary through shot volume alone. Additionally, playing a depth role could open up favorable matchups for Meier.

DEFENSE

Justin Schultz, PIT vs. NYR ($4,700): Scorching hot with five goals, 13 points and 21 shots through his past 10 games, Schultz is now the unquestioned No. 1 offensive defenseman for the Penguins. His salary will continue to climb, but for now, he still presents solid value with tremendous upside.

Keith Yandle, FLA vs. BUF ($4,500): The veteran rearguard entered the season with a seventh-ranked 1.65 points per 60 minutes among all defensemen who have skated 5,000 minutes over the previous three years, so his current 1.19 mark is discouraging. Florida has plenty of problems, and Yandle has just three assists through his past 12 games. However, he remains their No. 1 offensive defenseman, and there is room for profit in his current salary.
