DraftKings NHL: Friday Values

DraftKings NHL: Friday Values

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are six games in the NHL on Friday Here are a handful of recommendations across multiple price points to consider for your DraftKings lineups as we head into the weekend.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, TOR at NJD ($7,600): Before allowing six goals in a tough road game against Washington on Tuesday, Andersen won 10 of his previous 17 outings with a .942 save percentage and 1.85 GAA. His salary is easily accommodated, and the Devils are averaging the fourth-fewest goals per game (2.28) and fewest scoring chances per 60 minutes (23.15) in the league.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR at NJD ($7,900): With his ice time on the rise (18:46 with 3:46 on the power play through his past four games), Matthews becomes an even more attractive daily option. His 3.09 points per 60 minutes are higher than any other skater in the player pool Friday, and he's also posted four consecutive multi-point games (four goals and four assists) with 13 shots.

John Tavares, NYI at COL ($6,800): When elite talents fall below certain price ranges ($7,000, in this case), the value stands out and it's worth considering them blindly. This is an exceptional matchup, though. Colorado has allowed 29.66 scoring chances per 60 minutes through its past 25 games and 3.88 goals per game since the calendar flipped to December. The supporting cast surrounding Tavares is underwhelming, but he's still a nightly consideration even in tough matchups, so this spot and price check out.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS at FLA ($5,500): When Forsberg had two goals through 27 games in mid-December, everyone knew the positive regression was coming. The 22-year-old winger now has seven tallies on 35 shots through his past 11 outings, but his salary hasn't caught up to reflect his recent uptick on offense. With Nashville playing its second road game in as many nights, hope the masses are hesitant to take advantage of Forsberg's discounted price.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY at VAN ($4,800): The rookie is having an excellent campaign with a 28th-ranked 2.7 points per 60 minutes among all skaters with at least 500 minutes this year. Tkachuk also has the highest five-on-five Corsi For percentage relative to his teammates (7.32) in the league. Considering he's also sporting a seven-game point streak and averaging 2:17 of power-play time during the stretch, there's plenty of value in his salary.

Ty Rattie, CAR at CHI ($2,800): Claimed off waivers Wednesday, Rattie lined up with Victor Rask and Jeff Skinner on Thursday against St. Louis. Playing with Carolina's top scorers is a nice starting spot for Rattie, and if he sticks with the duo for Friday's game against Chicago, the former Blue checks out as an excellent source of cap relief. He had a respectable 69 goals and 136 points through 193 games in the AHL over the past three seasons, too.

DEFENSE

Cam Fowler, ANA vs. ARI ($5,400): The Coyotes allow the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.59) in the league, and despite a seven-game point drought, Fowler remains in line for a career year. He remains a fixture on the No. 1 power-play unit and continues to provide a respectable floor with his huge minutes (24:33 and 3:22 with the man advantage) and peripheral contributions (87 shots and 59 blocked shots through 40 games). This is a slump-busting matchup.

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. CAR ($5,200): The veteran defenseman continues to play well with nine points, 16 shots and 12 blocked shots while averaging 26:02 of ice (3:50 on the power play) over the past 10 games. His 1.56 points per 60 minutes rank seventh among all defenseman with at least 6,000 minutes over the past four years, too. Both the Blackhawks and Hurricanes are on the wrong end of back-to-back games, but the advantage should go to Chicago, and Keith's the Windy City's go-to offensive defenseman.
