DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

Valentine's Day is over, and whether you're looking to keep the good times rolling into Wednesday or trying to soothe a jilted heart, you can find the answer in daily fantasy hockey. There are four games Wednesday, which is business as usual for the NHL, but that's not a terrible number of teams to work with. There are definitely some players who are better values than others, and you will find a few of them below.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. FLA ($8,000): While the Panthers have been better recently, they still have a minus-19 goal differential. San Jose is a robust plus-21, and the Sharks are 18-7-2 at home this season. The Sharks also have allowed only 2.35 goals and 27.5 shots on net per game, while Florida has only scored 2.43 goals per contest. If San Jose's defensive stoutness holds up, Jones just needs to pick up a win to help your fantasy team.

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY vs. PHI ($6,000): Michael Neuvirth, who will be getting the start for the Flyers on Wednesday, has played well recently, but he only has an .897 save percentage this season. As hot as the Czech netminder has been recently, Monahan has been just as impressive. In his last 13 games, he's notched 12 points and 47 shots on net. Monahan also starts 41.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and he's averaged 3:14 with the extra man. The Flyers' 18th-ranked penalty kill shouldn't concern Monahan too much.

Patrik Berglund, STL at DET ($4,300): With Jimmy Howard not yet ready to return, Petr Mrazek (3.10 GAA, .899 save percentage) will be starting for the Wings. Meanwhile, Berglund's been hot recently, as he's notched six goals in his last five contests. Detroit has allowed 3.50 goals and 34.2 shots per game in February. Berglund comes quite cheap, and he has a chance to be a great buy-low candidate in this matchup.

WING

Brayden Schenn, PHI at CGY ($5,700): Schenn has hit a bit of a dry patch, but there's reason to think he can turn it around. Over his last 10 games, he's averaged 3:54 on the power play, and he's already up to 21 points with the extra man – just one short of last season's total. Additionally, at even strength, Schenn starts 39.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, the second-most of any Flyer. The Flames, for their part, will be starting Brian Elliott, who has a 2.85 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Brandon Saad, CLM vs. TOR ($5,600): The Maple Leafs will be on the second of back-to-back nights, which could mean ex-Jacket Curtis McElhinney in net for Toronto. While he's been good this season, his career save percentage is a mere .906. Saad has notched 17 goals on 135 shots in 55 games, while Toronto has allowed 32.4 shots on net per tilt. Additionally, the fact that Toronto has a top-10 penalty kill doesn't really matter, as Saad has been doing most of his damage at even strength.

Anthony Mantha, DET vs. STL ($5,200): Mantha has averaged a healthy 3.2 DraftKings points per game, and he's operating at a point-per-game clip over his last seven contests. Meanwhile, the Blues have a team save percentage of .895, second-worst in the NHL, although they've been a better team to some degree since their coaching change. Still, even at even strength, Jake Allen has a lowly .912 save percentage. Mantha is now the first-line right wing for Detroit, which only helps his fantasy potential.

DEFENSEMEN

Zach Werenski, CLM vs. TOR ($5,000): Werenski may have zero points in his last five games, but he's notched 16 shots on goal in those contests while averaging 2:31 on the power play. On the whole, he's been a major fantasy weapon this season, as evidenced by his 31 points in 55 contests. This is a great matchup for the rookie, as the Leafs have been very generous to opposing blueliners and will be on the second night of a back-to-back.

Mark Streit, PHI at CGY ($3,700): Streit only has four points since he returned from injury, but two of those points have come on the power play, and he's averaged 3:10 with the extra man in those games. Additionally, Streit's starting 36.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. Calgary has the 19th-ranked penalty kill, so Streit's time on the power play could benefit him. He's rather cheap as well, so you don't have to get too much from him to realize value.
