DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The NHL has almost put its wonky schedule in the rear view mirror, and there are 12 games Tuesday. It's a deep player pool, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty differentiating your tournament selections. With that in mind, here are a number of players to consider across multiple prices ranges for your DraftKings lineups.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. CLM ($7,500): Montreal has now won consecutive games, and while on the wrong end of a back-to-back set and facing an admirable opponent, Price's salary is low. He's still the most talented goalie in the league and sports a solid .933 save percentage and 1.96 GAA over his past four starts. With a few softer matchups out there to target, Price's ownership could be low, too.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. MIN ($6,500): With nine assists through his past five games, Scheifele continues to move the offensive needle. His 3.05 points per 60 minutes rank third among all skaters with at least 1,200 minutes this season, and there might also be some positive offensive regression ahead. The star pivot has now gone nine outings without scoring a goal. Minnesota is also on the second leg of a back-to-back set and has two players (Zach Parise and Jason Pominville) already diagnosed with the mumps.

Matt Duchene, COL at PHI ($4,900): The 26-year-old pivot is lost in the worst offensive campaign of his career and trade rumors are circulating. Duchene has missed the scoresheet in eight of his past 11 games to drive his salary down $500 dollars since mid-February. However, Philadelphia also owns the worst team save percentage (.894) in the league and allows 3.0 goals per game, so a speculative flier on a discounted Duchene (assuming he isn't on the move before the trade deadline) could pay off.

WING

Brad Marchand, BOS vs. ARI ($7,300): The Coyotes unloaded their top center Monday, and were allowing the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.43) before the deal. Marchand has been one of the most reliable high-end contributors in the league with 17 goals, 35 points and 80 shots through his past 25 games. His 11 multi-point showings during the stretch also highlight his significant upside.

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS at BUF ($6,200): While Filip Forsberg has been grabbing the headlines, Arvidsson has been cruising, too. With 11 goals, 19 points and 55 shots through his past 18 games and a sixth-ranked 11.12 shots per 60 minutes among all skaters with 1,000 minutes this season, Arvidsson's high shot volume, first-line role and power-play time with the No. 1 unit make him a high-floor option against Buffalo.

Jordan Weal, PHI vs. COL ($3,000): Projected to skate with Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds on the No. 1 line, Weal checks in as an upside source of cap relief. While the 24-year-old forward hasn't found the scoresheet in 18 NHL games during his career, he does have 58 goals and 186 points through his past 192 games in the AHL. Colorado has allowed the most goals per game (3.3) in the league, too.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS vs. ARI ($5,400): Picking on the Coyotes again, Krug's a go-to option Tuesday. He's found the scoresheet in 20 of his past 28 outings for 27 points, 60 shots and 29 blocked shots while averaging 22:09 of ice time per game and 3:16 on the power play. Additionally, his 1.8 points per 60 minutes rank fourth among all defensemen with at least 1,250 minutes this season.

Justin Schultz, PIT vs. DAL ($4,800): Kris Letang's (upper body) status is important to monitor, because Schultz's offensive role expands significantly with Letang out of action. Saturday, Schultz logged 24:08 of ice time with 6:23 on the power play. He's in the midst of a career year with nine goals, 39 points and 99 shots, and his 2.12 points per 60 minutes rank third among all rearguards with at least 1,000 minutes this season. Dallas is also a ripe matchup, as the Stars allow third-most high-danger scoring chances (12.09) and the second most goals per game (3.23) in the league.
