DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

DraftKing's main contests include the four evening games beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Here are a number of recommendations across multiple price ranges to considering while assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

John Gibson, ANA vs. WAS ($7,300): After a rough outing in his surprise return from a lower-body injury against St. Louis on Friday, look to Gibson as a contrarian flier Sunday. The Capitals are playing their third road game in four nights and second consecutive outing during the daunting California swing. Obviously, this is a far from a sure thing, but Gibson's salary doesn't match his impressive .930 save percentage and 2.06 GAA at home this year.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN vs. DAL ($6,400): This is a solid matchup considering that Dallas has allowed the second-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, the third most goals against per game (3.21), while also sporting a league-worst team save percentage (.895). Couture has been hot of late with four goals and seven points through his past six outings, and he has also hit the scoresheet in 15 of his past 20 outings to highlight his consistency.

Mika Zibanejad, NYR at DET ($5,100): The talented pivot has three goals and seven shots through his past three outings and offers cap relief Sunday. The Red Wings are starting Petr Mrazek, and the 24-year-old netminder owns a .890 save percentage and 3.45 GAA through his past four outings.

WING

Max Pacioretty, MON at EDM ($6,600): While Pacioretty has missed the scoresheet in consecutive games, he posted six goals, 14 ooints and 50 shots through his previous 11 outings. Additionally, his 137 goals is the third highest total over the past four seasons. Edmonton has allowed 3.0 goals per game through its past eight contests with just three wins, too. There is rebound potential for Pacioretty, and his salary is reasonable.

Henrik Zetterberg, DET vs. NYR ($5,600): Through the past 40 games, the Rangers have allowed the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.31), so this is a soft matchup. Zetterberg is on an offensive tear with five goals, 19 assists and nine multi-point efforts through his past 19 games, so this is a solid spot to invest in his mid-priced salary.

Pavel Buchnevich, NYR at DET ($3,800): A low-priced flier to stack with Mika Zibanejad, Buchnevich has flashed tremendous upside this season and is projected to play a top-six role and receive power-play time Sunday. The rookie has also clicked with Zibanejad for an impressive 3.75 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five this season.

DEFENSE

Brent Burns, SAN vs. DAL ($8,200): While Burns was held off the scoresheet Saturday, his 27 goals, 70 points and 262 shots are all league-high marks among blueliners, and this is a soft matchup. The separation between Burns and the remainder of the defense pool is worth spending up for, and especially in such a favorable matchup.

Nick Jensen, DET vs. NYR ($3,000): The rookie hasn't been a huge offensive presence with just nine points -- three goals -- through 33 games, but he has past the eye test twice recently and offers huge savings. Jensen also provides a modest floor with 41 shots and 32 blocked shots for the campaign. His role is expanding, too, as he's averaged a respectable 20:05 over his past four outings. While strictly within flier territory, call it a hunch Jensen has a respectable showing.
