FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Picks

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

It still doesn't quite feel like spring in much of the United States (and probably also Canada, given its northern positioning), so perhaps it's fitting there's still a lot of hockey for us to enjoy. Tuesday brings us 11 more games, and here are some players to target for daily fantasy purposes:

GOALIE

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TAM vs. ARI ($8,400): After playing well for a stretch, Vasilevskiy has had a couple off nights. However, a matchup with the Coyotes could be good for what ails him, as they have averaged only 2.34 goals and 28.7 shots on net per game. Tampa should also be able to provide plenty of goal support, as the Coyotes have allowed 3.17 goals per contest. Arizona will also be on the second night of a back-to-back, which further increases Vasilevskiy's chances of picking up a win.

CENTER

Vincent Trocheck, FLA vs. CAR ($5,500): It's been a few games since Trocheck has scored a goal, but he's still managed six assists and 27 shots on goal in his last nine games, so he's clearly still offensively active. Trocheck has tallied 207 shots on net in 71 games and has averaged 21:07 per game in ice time, a high number for a forward. The Hurricanes have allowed 2.83 goals per game, and they've been even worse since the All-Star break. During that time, they've allowed 2.90 goals per contest, and Cam Ward has a 3.51 GAA in his last 19 games.

Bryan Little, WPG vs. PHI ($5,000): Little has notched 20 goals and 19 assists in 49 games, with nine in his last 10 games. He's also tallied 10 power-play points, including three in his last 10 contests. The Flyers have allowed 2.94 goals per game, and their goalies sport a collective .896 save percentage. They also have the 23rd-ranked penalty kill, which is another point in Little's favor.

WING

Wayne Simmonds, PHI at WPG ($6,600): The Flyers are a good matchup for the Jets, but the Jets are an even better matchup for the Flyers. Winnipeg has allowed 3.18 goals and 31.1 shots on net per contest, and also own the 28th-ranked penalty kill. Simmonds is well-suited to take advantage of this, having notched 23 power-play points (including 15 goals) and averaging 3:51 per game with the extra man. He has also started 38.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is the most of any Philly forward. Regardless of the situation, Simmonds should be able to benefit.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT at BUF ($6,500): Hornqvist has had a little trouble staying healthy, but has notched two points in his last two games since returning from his latest absence. He's fired 209 shots on goal in 60 games, and has scored 14 points on the power play. The Sabres have allowed 34.3 shots on goal per game – which is the most in the league – and their penalty kill ranks 29th. Buffalo also played Monday, which means they will be on the second night of a back-to-back headed into this matchup.

Chris Kreider, NYR at NJD ($6,000): Kreider has averaged 12.3 fantasy points per game, notching seven points in his last eight contests. He's also started 34.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, most of any Rangers forward, and has tallied 13 power-play points. The Devils have given up 2.91 goals per game along with 31.1 shots on net per contest. New Jersey's penalty kill is mediocre (15th ranked), but Kreider shouldn't be concerned with three power-play points in his last eight games.

Jaden Schwartz, STL at COL ($5,600): Schwartz only has 14 goals in 67 games, but that's partially due to a 9.8 shooting percentage, which is the worst of his career by a wide margin. It's pretty late in the season for his puck luck to turn around, but it could still happen. And despite the relative lack of goal scoring, Schwartz has eight points and 38 shots on goal in his last 14 contests. This matchup will help, as Colorado has let in a league-worst 3.28 goals per game and allowed 32.0 shots on net per contest.

DEFENSEMEN

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. VAN ($5,700): Keith has averaged 11.6 fantasy points per game, thanks in part to his 49 points, including 15 on the power play. He's averaged 25:42 per game in ice time, and 3:06 on the power play. Vancouver has allowed 2.89 goals and 31.7 shots on net per contest, and their penalty kill is ranked 26th. And in his last 16 games, Ryan Miller has a 3.27 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

Dion Phaneuf, OTT at BOS ($4,500): The Bruins started Tuukka Rask in their game Monday, which could mean Anton Khudobin (2.73 GAA, .897 save percentage) will be in net. However, even if Rask starts, he'll be dealing with playing on consecutive nights, and he only has a .912 save percentage on the season. Phaneuf has notched 16 power-play points, but he's also amassed 143 blocked shots in 71 contests. Boston has attempted more shots per 60 minutes (62.1) of any team, which should mean plenty of opportunities for Phaneuf to get in front of the puck.
