DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

April is here! However, the NHL isn't pulling out all the stops to celebrate, and it's actually a less busy Saturday than usual. When you remove the two afternoon games from the slate (they get their own set of contests), there are only seven games left. That being said, that's still a pretty hefty selection of players to choose from. If you are looking for some players for your daily fantasy lineup, look no further.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, TOR at DET ($7,900): The Wings have only scored 2.39 goals per game, and they may be without Anthony Mantha, further hindering their offense. Detroit has also only averaged 28.2 shots on net per contest. Andersen, meanwhile, has posted a 2.03 GAA and a .940 save percentage in his last 12 contests. Detroit isn't likely to threaten him too much, and you also have to like Toronto's chances of picking up a win. The Leafs are the better team, and they still have something to play for.

CENTER

Kyle Turris, OTT at WPG ($5,300): In his last 15 games, Turris has notched nine points and 49 shots on goal. He's started 35.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and he's also tallied 17 power-play points in 73 games. That last number is most notable, because the Jets have the 28th-ranked penalty kill. Turris has played 2:55 per game with the extra man, and getting that much time against Winnipeg's penalty kill is usually a recipe for success.

Victor Rask, CAR vs. DAL ($4,500): If you think Turris has a great matchup, and he does, Rask has an even better one in Dallas. The Stars have the league's worst penalty kill. Admittedly, Rask only has nine power-play points, but he has averaged 2:07 per game with the extra man. That could be enough. Plus, the Stars have allowed 3.14 goals per game, and their netminders have a collective .895 save percentage. Rask has started 39.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and getting that kind of starting position against Dallas could pay off big for fantasy owners.

WING

Jakub Voracek, PHI vs. NJD ($6,000): The Devils have allowed 2.91 goals and 31.3 shots on net per game, and they will also be on the road on the second night of a back-to-back. On zero days of rest, New Jersey has given up 33.7 shots on goal per contest. Voracek has put 241 shots on goal in 77 games, and he's also been an impressive power-play performer. He's averaged 3:36 per game with the extra man, tallying 21 points in that time.

Sebastian Aho, CAR vs. DAL ($5,500): As mentioned previously, the Stars have the league's worst penalty kill. That bodes well for Aho, who leads the Hurricanes with 15 power-play points. The rookie has been impressive in general recently, as he's tallied nine points in his last nine games. Since the All-Star break, Dallas has allowed 3.19 goals per contest, and their goalies have a collective .890 save percentage in that time.

Mike Hoffman, OTT at WPG ($5,400): Hoffman has averaged 3.5 fantasy points per game, and he's started 37.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is third most among Ottawa's forwards. Hoffman has also averaged 3:12 per game with the extra man, notching 25 points in 69 games. He's been on fire for a while, too, as he's tallied 19 points in his last 20 games. Now he gets to square off with a Jets team that has allowed 3.15 goals and has the 28th-ranked penalty kill.

DEFENSE

Mike Green, DET vs. TOR ($4,600): Andersen has played well in net for the Leafs recently, but Toronto has allowed 32.8 shots on net per game, which is third most in the NHL. Green has put 116 shots on goal in 67 games, notching 13 goals in that time. He's also averaged 2:53 per game on the power play, which won't hurt. Toronto has also averaged 60.2 shots per 60 minutes, which is third most in the NHL. Green has blocked 82 shots in 67 games, and he could add a couple more in this matchup.

Jaccob Slavin, CAR vs. DAL ($4,000): Slavin hasn't gotten much power-play time, so maybe he won't get to take advantage of Dallas' terrible penalty kill. However, he's still tallied 33 points, and the Stars have allowed 3.14 goals per contest. Slavin has something else going for him as well. Dallas has attempted 59.3 shots per 60 minutes, which is sixth most in the NHL, while the blueliner has racked up 152 blocked shots, so he can definitely help your fantasy team on that end of the ice. At this price, that may be all it takes for him to be a nice value.
