FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

March Madness – and March itself – are both officially in the rear view mirror. Sure, the baseball season has started, but you've got lots of time left to enjoy that. The NHL season is almost over; it deserves your attention. There are a whopping 13 games Tuesday. Here are some of the best values you'll find:

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. VAN ($8,400): In San Jose's last game, Jones made 29 saves on 30 shots in a road win over Vancouver. Now, he is in line to face off with the Canucks again, this time at home. Vancouver, who has lost four games in a row, is 12-23-3 on the road. Meanwhile, San Jose is 24-10-4 at home. Also, the Canucks have only scored 2.18 goals per game, and Jones has a 2.40 GAA.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS at TOR ($7,200): Backstrom has had another excellent season, averaging 13.9 fantasy points per game. He's also notched 13 points in his last eight games, so he remains in top form. The Maple Leafs will be on the second night of a back-to-back, with backup Curtis McElhinney in line to get the start. Toronto has allowed 32.9 shots on net per game, and that's not going to improve with zero days of rest. On top of that, Backstrom has an impressive 34 power-play points.

Martin Hanzal, MIN vs. CAR ($5,100): After a slow start with the Wild, Hanzal has seemingly found his footing. He's tallied seven points in his last 10 games, including three goals. Carolina has allowed 2.76 goals per game, and the Hurricanes' goalies sport a collective .901 save percentage. While Cam Ward's last three starts have been good, his .906 save percentage still indicates he's unlikely to cause Hanzal too much stress.

WING

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS vs. NYI ($6,600): Arvidsson has been one of the most prolific shooters in the league this season. He's struck 240 shots on goal in 77 games, registering 29 goals in the process. The Islanders, meanwhile, have allowed 31.9 shots on net per game, which is in the bottom five of the NHL. They won't be the ones to stop Arvidsson, having given up 2.99 goals per game.

Jaden Schwartz, STL vs. WPG ($6,200): Schwartz is currently the top left winger on St. Louis' depth chart, and in March averaged 19:30 per game in ice time. He made the most of those minutes, tallying 14 points in 16 games. The Jets have allowed 3.14 goals per game, and their penalty kill is ranked 28th. While Schwartz only has eight power-play points, he's averaged 2:33 per game with the extra man. Against Winnipeg, he could find some power-play luck.

Marian Hossa, CHI at COL ($5,400): Hossa has potted 26 goals in 71 games, while also notching 11 power-play points. He's still got life left in his legs with five points in his last seven games, and now he gets to go up against the lowly Avalanche. Colorado has allowed an awful 3.37 goals per game, by far the worst in the league. Hossa has himself a tremendous matchup, and choosing him won't break the bank.

Max Domi, ARI at DAL ($4,700): Domi has started 32.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is the most of any Arizona center. He's also averaged 2:38 per game on the power play. The Stars have allowed 3.14 goals per game, and their penalty kill is last in the NHL. Domi has missed some time with injury, but still has 35 points in 56 games, and is definitely good enough to take advantage of this matchup. He's also quite cheap, so there's real potential for Domi to be a steal if things break right for him.

DEFENSEMEN

John Klingberg, DAL vs. ARI ($5,400): Klingberg and the Stars have an even better matchup than Domi and the Coyotes. Arizona has allowed 3.15 goals per game, and they've also given up 34.1 shots on net per contest. Klingberg has notched 47 points in 77 games, including 16 with the extra man. The Coyotes have the 24th-ranked penalty kill, which makes the Swede an enticing option.

Seth Jones, CLM at PIT ($4,600): The Penguins have allowed 32.6 shots on net per game, and they've attempts 59.5 shots per 60 minutes. The former ranks in the bottom five, while the latter ranks in the top five. Jones has notched 145 shots on goal while blocking 113 shots on net. He should be able to generate some fantasy points on both ends of the ice, and he's also fairly reasonably priced.
