FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There are three games Saturday with Minnesota, Montreal and San Jose all hoping to hold off elimination. Here are a number of players to consider while assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. STL ($8,300): Through four games, Dubnyk has allowed just six goals with a .943 save percentage and is coming off a shutout. He also posted a 23-10-1 record with a .921 save percentage and 2.13 GAA at home during the regular season. Meanwhile, the Blues are generating the fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five (5.43), too.

CENTER

Connor McDavid, EDM at SAN ($8,600): With just a single assist through the past three games, McDavid has been held in check by the Sharks. However, considering he's posted 3.42 points per 60 minutes since entering the league, it's only a matter of time before he breaks out of his mini slump. His upside is second to none, so opening your wallet in a shallow player pool is encouraged.

Joe Thornton, SAN vs. EDM ($5,300): Considering he's a free agent in the offseason, Thornton could be playing his last game as a Shark on Saturday. It would be shocking if he didn't have a significant impact, and he has collected an assist in consecutive games. The go-to offensive pivot also carries a manageable salary.

WING

Max Pacioretty, MON at NYR ($7,000): Dating back to the regular season, Pacioretty has gone nine games and 35 shots without scoring a goal. He's averaged 21:14 of ice time with 3:29 on the power play and has positive regression ahead in the goals column. Meanwhile, the Rangers are allowing a healthy 11.35 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes.

Jimmy Vesey, NYR vs. MON ($3,600): A potential source of cap relief, Vesey has turned up his play during this series. While he has just a two assists, the rookie has passed the eye test and is locked into a top-six role with power-play time. Vesey has also registered two shots in consecutive games.

Timo Meier, SAN vs. EDM ($3,100): The high-volume shooter (12.03 shots per 60 minutes during the regular season) has seen his ice time climb in each of the past three games. The rookie has also been on the ice for the second-most high-danger scoring chances at five-on-five for the Sharks. Meier is worth considering as a low-priced flier.

DEFENSE

Brent Burns, SAN vs. EDM ($7,200): The go-to defenseman has only found the scoresheet in one game, but he's been able to provide consistent fantasy points through his peripheral contributions (22 shots and 11 blocked shots through five games). With the season on the line, expect Burns to play close to 30 minutes, which offers a reliable floor.

Ryan McDonagh, NYR vs. MON ($5,200): There hasn't been a lot of offense from McDonagh, as he's recorded just one assist. He's logging huge minutes (26:36 with 3:25 on the power play) and piling up the counting stats (nine shots and 13 blocked shots). Paying for his floor in a shallow player pool could reward if he hits the scoresheet.
