Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

There are just two games in the NHL on Tuesday. The Sens are looking to take a 3-0 series lead over the Rangers, whereas the Predators will attempt to win another home game against St. Louis to grab a 3-1 lead in their series. Here are a number of players to consider targeting and fading while assembling your Yahoo lineups from Tuesday's shallow player pool.

GOALIE

Pekka Rinne, NAS vs. STL ($38): St. Louis has generated a playoff-low 5.66 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five, so it's a should prove to be another soft matchup with plenty of routine saves for Rinne. The Nashville netminder has also been fantastic during the postseason with a 6-1 record, .950 save percentage and 1.38 GAA.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Craig Anderson, OTT at NYR ($29): The Rangers broke out for five goals in Game 2, and while Anderson sports a solid .923 save percentage and 2.09 GAA during the playoffs, he's also allowed three goals or more in four of eight contests. The salary is attractive, but New York is in a must-win position.

CENTER

Mika Zibanejad, NYR vs. OTT ($16): The first-year Ranger has looked dangerous throughout the playoffs, and Zibanejad has been on the ice for the most high-danger scoring chances at five-on-five (10.64 per 60 minutes) among all New York forward. He's also taking advantage of his opportunities by hitting the scoresheet in three of the past four games for a goal and four assists.

CENTER TO AVOID

Kyle Turris, OTT at NYR ($18): Sporting a three-game point streak, Turris is the most expensive center in the player pool. He had missed the scoresheet in four of the first five outings in Round 1 against Boston, and the pivot has also registered a single shot in four of eight postseason games. There's upside, but Turris' fantasy floor is low.

WING

Chris Kreider, NYR vs. OTT ($21): A solid stack option alongside Mika Zibanejad, Kreider scored his first goal of the postseason in Game 2, which might open the offensive floodgates for the winger. Kreider and Zibanejad combined for an impressive 3.25 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five during the regular season, too. Add Kreider's nine shots through the first two games of the series, and he's a strong target in a must-win game for the Rangers.

Colin Wilson, NAS vs. STL ($14): The veteran winger received an uptick in ice time in Game 3 and logged 16:39 with 2:53 on the power play. It's a promising fantasy boost, and in his price range, it's rare to find a player playing a significant offensive role. Wilson has also recorded 19 points through his past 23 postseason games.

WINGS TO AVOID

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL at NAS ($30): While Tarasenko is probably the best scorer in Tuesday's player pool, he's expensive and facing a tough matchup. Nashville has allowed just 6.96 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five during the playoffs, and Rinne has been outstanding. Additionally, there are no easy minutes against the Predators top four defensemen. Tarasenko needs a multi-point effort to meet value at his salary, and he has been held to just three goals and five points through eight playoff games.

Bobby Ryan, OTT at NYR ($18): The 30-year-old winger was a force in Round 1 with five goals and eight points. He's failed to mark the scoresheet through two games against New York, though. Considering he is coming off the worst regular season of his career, and by a large margin, it's not surprising that negative regression has caught up to Ryan. He carries more risk in this price range.

DEFENSE

Erik Karlsson, OTT at NYR ($30): Spending up for a defenseman can be a risky daily strategy, but in a shallow player pool, Karlsson isn't just the best defenseman available, he's one of the best scorers in the player pool. After all, he's hit the scoresheet in seven of eight playoff games for a goal, seven helpers, 21 shots and 17 blocked shots while logging huge ice time.

Ryan McDonagh, NYR vs. OTT ($20): The Blueshirt captain boasts a high-floor, high-ceiling combo because of his significant role and excellent cross category coverage. Over the five games, he's collected a goal, four assists, 11 shots and 17 blocked shots and has averaged 27:39 of ice time per game (3:00 with the man advantage) during the postseason. This salary is manageable, too.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Alex Pietrangelo, STL at NAS ($22): As noted, the Blues aren't generating many scoring chances, and Pietrangelo has spent a significant portion of his playing time through the first three games of the series matched up against Nashville's No. 1 line. The Ryan Johansen-Filip Forsberg-Viktor Arvidsson trio has posted a league-high 4.88 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five during the playoffs, so it's just a bad fantasy setup for Pietrangelo, and especially at his salary.

Brady Skjei, NYR vs. OTT ($16): After scoring two goals in Game 2, there is a chance Skjei is a popular target Tuesday. He's a solid up-and-coming player, too. However, he's currently sporting a 30.8 shooting percentage and doesn't really move the needle in the peripheral statistics with just 13 shots and seven blocked shots through eight playoff games. The salary is manageable, but the rookie doesn't boast a reliable fantasy floor.
