Kontiola knows he's in a battle for a job with the Leafs, but he's prepared to play whatever role the team sees fit to win a spot, reports the National Post. "This isn’t a guy that we’ve got pencilled in on the first line or the fourth line," said general manager Dave Nonis. "He’s got the skill set that he can play multiple positions. Kadri has been working on his shot over the summer in pursuit of increasing his offensive output this season, reports Sportsnet.ca. "Every single year I like my production to go up and up, so I want to get better [in terms of] goals, points, assists, plus/minus, time on ice," he said. "These are all things I think about and can improve on."
