| BASEBALL: Commish High Stakes Live Draft League |
2. Entry Requirements: The cost to enter a team into the HSAL is $1,500 per team. An individual can only have one team in the league. All entries must be paid for before you are allowed to enter the auction. You can pay for your entry by using the online payment option provided or by calling 888-201-3057 and giving a credit card number over the phone.
If you prefer to pay by check, you may do so by sending the check to:3. Eligibility: The Contest is open to individuals who have reached legal age in their respective jurisdiction. Individuals who have not reached legal age in their respective jurisdiction can enter only with permission of a parent or legal guardian. Void where prohibited by law. Roto Sports, Inc. employees are ineligible to participate or win prizes.
4. Roster Requirements: Each HSAL team will consist of 30 players.
There are 23 active lineup spots, which are:
- 2 Catchers
- 1 First Baseman
- 1 Second Baseman
- 1 Third Baseman
- 1 Shortstop
- 1 Corner Infielder (1B or 3B)
- 1 Middle Infielder (2B or SS)
- 5 Outfielders
- 1 Utility (any hitter)
- 9 Pitchers (any combination of starters and relievers)
The players that are not in your active lineup, will be on your reserve roster. Your reserve roster can consist of any players, regardless of position or if batter or pitcher.
There is no innings pitched minimum requirement and no minimum requirement for number of starting pitchers or relief pitchers.
Hitters must have played 20 MLB games at a position in the 2009 or 10 MLB games at a position during 2010 to be eligible to be placed in the active lineup spot at that position. Players are eligible for a corner infield spot or middle infield spot if they played 20 games at a specific spot last season. For example, a player who played 21 games at shortstop and eight games at second base would be eligible at SS or MI for your first week's lineups, but not 2B. A player who played 16 games at 3B and 11 games at 1B in 2009 would only be eligible for your utility spot until he plays 10 games at a specific position in 2010. You cannot combine the 16+11 and make him a corner infielder. He has to have played either 20 games last season or 10 games in the current season at one specific corner infield position to be eligible for a corner infield spot. Hitters that do not qualify at any position, will only be eligible to be played at the Utility position until they qualify at a position.
All players, whether in the major or minor leagues, are eligible to be on a roster. If you would like to sign a player who you cannot find in the player database, please email the commissioner at highstakes@rotowire.com.
5. Auction: The auction will be held on Monday, March 29 at 7:00pm Eastern. Each team will begin with $260 to fill the 30-man roster. Bids will increase in whole dollar increments.
A random "nomination" order will be generated prior to the auction. The owner with the first nomination will begin by placing a bid on a player, which will then begin the bidding. After bidding for that player has concluded, the second owner will make an opening bid on the next player, and so on.
Once a team's roster is full, that team will be removed from the nomination order.
All picks placed through the RotoWire Commissioner on auction night are final. Mistakes cannot be undone and refunds will not be given for mistakes.
Only players listed in the auction software's player list will be available for nomination. Approximately a week before the auction, the RotoWire Commissioner will provide a list of players and their position eligibilty to all HSAL participants.
It is your responsibility to create a team with enough players to fill an active lineup.
6. Lineups: Lineups will run from Monday through Sunday. You will be able to use the website to change your starting lineup for the upcoming week up until the start time of the first MLB game on Monday of each week. Since the first MLB game of the season occurs on Sunday, April 4, you will only be able to make lineup changes for that game via email. You must email lineup changes for that game by 11:59pm on Saturday, April 3. If there are any technical problems that prevent you from making lineup changes during the season, please contact RotoWire support at highstakes@rotowire.com with your lineup changes. Emails from an address other than your listed email address will not be accepted (to prevent tampering). The timestamp of your email must be before the lineup deadline for your lineup changes to be accepted. If you are having technical problems that prevent you from emailing your changes, you can make your lineup changes over the phone by calling 608-310-4278 (will require password verification).7. Free Agents: Free agent requests will be processed via e-mail using a FAAB system. Each owner has $100 FAAB dollars for the entire season. Bids will be made in whole dollar increments, the minimum bid being $1 on a player. The winning bidder will pay his or her full bid amount. Bids need to be sent to RotoWire support at highstakes@rotowire.com. Emails from an address other than your listed email address will not be accepted (to prevent tampering). In case of a tie, the player will be awarded to the team lower in the standings. The standings that will be used to break a tie are the ones that include stats through the most current Saturday's games. If there are tie bids for a free agent, and if the teams with the tie bids are tied in the standings, the team with the lowest batting average will be awarded the player. In the free agent request email, you must indicate which player on your team will be released if you win a free agent. The released player will be available in the free agent pool the following week. Any free agent that is picked up is added to a team in a reserve status. It is the responsibility of the team owner to activate any picked up free agents.
The first deadline to submit free agent requests will be Friday, April 2 at 11:59pm PT. In case of tie bids for the first free agent request period, the player will be awarded to the team who was later in the auction nomination order. After April 5, the deadline to submit free agent requests for the following week will be 11:59 pm PT on each Saturday. Each week free agent pickups will be processed on Sunday. You will receive an email on Sunday indicating if you won a player. If you are having technical problems that prevent you from emailing your free agent requests, you can make your requests over the phone by calling 608-310-4278 (will require password verification). 8. Trades: There are no trades in the HSAL.9. Stat Corrections: Occasionally, our stats provider, or Major League Baseball, will make stat corrections in the days following a game.
