Drops late notice fight at Bellator 181
Middleton lost to Emily Ducote via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28) at Bellator 181 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.

Middleton took this fight on short notice. Despite seeming to have a size advantage, she really struggled with the grappling of Ducote. After spending the first round on defense and trying to avoid takedowns, she scored a reversal in the second round. However, Middleton was unable to do very much from the top nearly submitted to an armbar. The third round was more of the same. Ducote scored an early takedown and nearly finished with a pair of submissions. Middleton was game to take this fight on short notice, but she did not show very much in this fight. Middleton defeated Alice Yauger via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-26, 30-26) at Bellator 171 in Mulvane, Kan. on Friday

Middleton made her professional debut in the Bellator cage last year. In that fight, she scored the upset over Bruna Ellen. In this fight, she showed that she is not a one-hit wonder. Yauger was a game opponent and threw a lot of shot. However, Middleton was able to stay on the end of the majority of Yauger's shots and countered well. Middleton was clearly the better striker throughout. Towards the end of the second round, Middleton started landing a ton of hard shot and that continued until the end. Bellator still does not have a female championship. It will be interesting to see if a flyweight title is in their future plans.
