Handles resilient opponent at Bellator 223
WelterweightBellator
June 24, 2019
Daley defeated Erick Silva via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27) at Bellator 223 on Friday in London.
ANALYSIS
Daley had recently found himself on a two-fight losing streak, which had happened for the first time since his Strikeforce days in 2011. Bellator brass gave him Silva this time around -- a former UFC fighter with plenty of grappling prowess. After dropping the first round, Daley essentially dominated this fight, particularly in the second frame where the fight could have easily been stopped. Daley landed early in the round, but was wise to conserve his energy and pick his spots, landing repeatedly with both punches and knees. The 36-year-old proved he can still put on exciting fights, but with a loss to current champion Rory MacDonald on his record (and considering MacDonald is in line to fight Douglas Lima), Daley still has several wins to go before he's back in the title picture.
Bounced from welterweight tourney
WelterweightBellator
February 17, 2019
Daley was defeated by Michael Page via unanimous decision (47-48, 47-48, 47-48) at Bellator 216 on Saturday in Connecticut.
ANALYSIS
After an inactive first round in which both fighters seemed to go with a "feeling out" process, Daley surprised many fight fans by turning to a wrestling-based approach. It was a bit surprising to see given his criticism of Jon Fitch for using a similar strategy in Daley's last fight, but in the end, it was probably the smart plan. Daley was giving up a ton of length to MVP, but was able to negate that by bringing him to the ground on several occasions. It was enough to win a few rounds, but not the fight as a whole, with MVP likely getting ahead in the scorecards due to his ability to reverse position in the championship rounds. Daley is fresh off a new contract with Bellator, but with most key 170-pound fighters tied up in the promotion's welterweight tournament, the next step for the 35-year-old Brit is unclear.
Comes to terms with Bellator

July 18, 2018
Daley agreed to a new deal with Bellator on Wednesday, Shaun Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Daley has previously expressed frustration with the promotion, he will return on a new contract in hopes facing his rival Michael Page in the near future. In order to do so, Daley will have to become the 10th and final participant in Bellator's welterweight tournament. During his most recent outing, Daley was out-wrestled by Jon Fitch (who is also participating in the tournament) and lost via unanimous decision in May.
Struggles with yet another wrestler
WelterweightBellator
May 12, 2018
Daley lost to Jon Fitch via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26) at Bellator 199 on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Daley is a veteran over 58 MMA fights. However, the story on him remains consistent. He is a skilled kickboxer who can finished basically anyone with his patented left hook. However, when he is forced to deal with a plus wrestler, he will find himself stuck on the bottom and struggle. Early in this fight, he tried to make the best of the few moments on the feet and landed some hard strikes. However, Fitch was able to control the bout with his wrestling. Daley's relationship with Bellator seems rocky to say the least at this point. It is likely he will soon be fighting for a new promotion.
Will welcome Jon Fitch to Bellator
WelterweightBellator
March 2, 2018
During the broadcast of Bellator 195, the promotion announced that Daley would face Fitch. The bout will be part of Bellator 199, which takes place May 12 at the SAP Center in San Jose.
ANALYSIS
Daley has been competing exclusively for Bellator since 2015. During this run, he has gone 5-2. In his last fight, he scored a second-round knockout over UFC veteran Lorenz Larkin. Daley had been linked to a grudge match against Michael "Venom" Page. However, Daley and Page are now both booked against other opponents.
