ANALYSIS
Like many fighters, Awad found it hard to land strikes against Henderson in this fight. Henderson controlled range very well. He was either at kicking range or in the clinch. Awad spent most of his time defended takedowns or eating body kicks. In the third round, he appeared to land a knockdown. However, Henderson was mostly off balance and recovered right away. Awad is still a solid gatekeeper in the Bellator lightweight and welterweight divisions. However, he will not liking earn a title shot before the end of his career.

Awad had some trouble getting off his strikes early in this fight due to Couture's game plan. Couture wanted to dodge strikes and get to the clinch. However, Awad eventually got his timing together. He caught Couture coming forward and stunned him with a hook. From there, he sensed his opponent was hurt and unleashed punch after punch until the referee stopped the bout. Awad is a veteran who will put on exciting fights at this point in his career, and that means he has a place in Bellator.

ANALYSIS
This was a masterful performance by Awad. On the feet, he controlled the distance with hard leg kicks. When he chose to do so, he would close the distance and land with hard hooks. He also took the fight to the ground at will and did solid work in the grappling department. Ambrose was game, but Awad's veteran savvy was simply too much. Awad improved his professional record to 22-9, and he is now riding a three -fight winning streak since losing to Brennan Ward at welterweight.

Awad avoided being the second straight upset victim of Freeman. The veteran came out with a patient approach. He absorbed some kicks from Freeman, but when he sensed an opening he landed a hard right hand that hurt Freeman. He seemed to recover, but then Awad landed another glancing shot and Freeman was out of the fight. Awad has spent time at lightweight and welterweight during his time in Bellator, but he has been more successful at lightweight. With the win, he improves to 21-9 overall and 9-6 in Bellator.

Awad began the fight by trying to strike at distance, but was able to best Quinn in the grappling department, as the 30-year-old frequently lost position after taking the fight to the ground. Awad was clearly the fresher fighter in the latter half of the bout, allowing him to establish mount on two separate occasions and land powerful strikes. Awad had lost three of his last four fights coming into the contest, but notched his 20th professional MMA win as a result of the decision.
