Dealing with arm injury
StrawweightOther
August 19, 2019
Esquibel was suspended 180 days by the California State Athletic Commission pending medical clearance of a possible right arm fracture, Steven Marrocco of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Not only did Esquibel fall to 0-4 in the UFC and get badly outperformed in the striking department, but she also may have suffered a serious injury. Her licensing process could very well be under the banner of another promotion by the time she is healthy enough to schedule another fight.

Remains winless in UFC career

Esquibel lost to Hannah Cifers via unanimous decision (28-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 241 on Saturday in Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
It was another terrible performance from Esquibel. As has been the case throughout her brief time with the company, the 33-year-old has proven to be shockingly inefficient with her offensive attacks. It's made even more surprising by the fact Esquibel trains with one of the top camps in the world in Jackson-Wink. The entirety of Esquibel's offensive game on Saturday consisted of three successful takedowns in which she did nothing with her positional advantage. Esquibel is now 0-4 in the UFC with all four setbacks coming via unanimous decision. It seems doubtful she will be given another opportunity with the company.
Slated for UFC Anaheim
StrawweightOther
July 25, 2019
Esquibel will fight Hannah Cifers at UFC Anaheim on Aug. 17, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel owns a one-inch reach advantage over her counterpart, but she enters the bout having landed just 4.51 significant strikes versus Hannah Cifers' 4.91. While she has absorbed more than 1.5 strikes per minutes more than Hannah Cifers, Esquibel has still more successfully defended the barrage of punches (51 percent success rate). The two have combined for one victory in five fights, so this fight may be important for the continued pursuit of each's UFC career. Both fighters typically rely on KO/TKOs or decisions to determine the victor of their bouts, so it would be surprising if a different conclusion is reached.
Drops decision as big underdog

Esquibel lost to Angela Hill via unanimous decision (28-29, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel only connected on 19 percent of her significant strike attempts, losing the overall striking battle in each round. She did have a moment when a second-round combination appeared to deal some damage to Hill, though Hill continued to have an answer for her volume through the rest of the round. The Jackson-Wink MMA product is now winless in three opportunities with the UFC.
Will face Hill instead of Penne
StrawweightOther
April 19, 2019
Esquibel will face Angela Hill instead of Jessica Penne during UFC Fort Lauderdale on April 27, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel's fight against Penne will have to be rebooked again. However, the former will still fight on April 27. She'll be going up against Penne's friend and training partner, Hill. She has gone 2-7 since her return to the UFC in 2017.
Booked vs. Penne again
StrawweightOther
March 14, 2019
Esquibel has been booked to face Jessica Penne in a strawweight bout at UFC on ESPN 3 on April 27, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel was originally set to fight Penne back in February at UFC Phoenix, but Penne weighed in two pounds over the strawweight limit that weekend and ultimately was forced to withdraw due to an ankle sprain. Now, two months later, Esquibel will get her shot against the fighter who hasn't emerged victorious from the octagon since 2014. Esquibel herself, however, has dropped her last two and hasn't won a fight since May of 2017.
