Secures fight for Bellator 182
Casey will fight Chris Honeycutt at Bellator 182 on Aug. 25, Bellator.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Casey made his Bellator debut in January against Keith Berry after spending the majority of his career in the UFC and ended up picking up a majority draw. Including his UFC fights, Casey has a career record of 9-5, but he hasn't picked up a win since July of 2015, so he'll need to have a strong showing against Honeycutt's 9-1 record. Honeycutt has won three straight fights, with his last coming as a unanimous decision over Ben Reiter in December, making this a tough fight for Casey's hopes of a bounce-back effort.

Rides big first round to majority draw
Casey drew with Keith Berry via majority draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28) at Bellator 170 in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Casey began his Bellator career with a dominant first round. He dropped Berry twice with punches and did some solid work on the ground. In the next round, he started off as the better fighter. However, he began to fade and was not nearly as dominant. Berry went on a run at the end of the round, and he might have done enough to steal it. Casey had very little left in the final round, and Berry continued to press forward and land strikes. The first round was almost certainly a 10-8, so a draw scorecard is entirely reasonable.

Casey lost to Sam Alvey via TKO (strikes) at 4:56 of Round 2 at UFC on FOX 21 on Saturday in Vancouver.

There are some impressive aspects to Casey's game, most notably his submission skills, but he just never seems to get much done. He has little power and he has a tendency to stand in front of his opponents for extended periods of time. Combine that with a poor chin and you have the makings of a fighter who is going to struggle to win fights. Alvey is very limited athletically, but Casey didn't make him move enough. The end result is Casey checking in with a 1-3 (2NC) record in six UFC bouts. The UFC could look to cut bait with the 35-year-old.

He was able to land two big takedowns early and rack up a ton of control time, but he faded considerably as the fight went on and for the final three or four minutes, he was just holding on. The fact Casey even stepped into the cage after the events of yesterday was remarkable in it's own right. Since joining the UFC in April 2013, the 34-year-old Casey now has a very unique 1-2-1 (2NC) record in six fights.

From then on he stood directly in front of Natal and paid for it. You have to think that the fight would have been completely different if Casey was able to avoid that one major strike. Casey is a well-regarded BJJ black belt under Rickson Gracie, but he was either too injured, tired or both, to make anything of the ground exchanges against Nadal. The 34-year-old Casey is now 1-2 (2NC) in his first five UFC fights.
