Struggles with the size of Chidi Njokuani
LightweightBellator
January 27, 2017
Guillard lost Chidi Njokuani via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-24, 30-26) at Bellator 171 in Mulvane, Kan. on Friday
ANALYSIS
Guillard really struggled as the smaller fighter. He could not close the distance and land strikes. Through the first two rounds, he landed only three strikes. He tried to wrestler, but he also had trouble dragging his larger opponent to the ground. Guillard spent a lot of this fight on his back eating shots. Guillard has now gone 0-3 with a no contest in Bellator. This fight was not particularly exciting, and it might be his last in the promotion.

Tests positive for banned substance, receives suspension
LightweightBellator
August 5, 2016
Guillard was suspended one year and fined $10,000 Friday for testing positive for a non-PED banned substance, Ariel Helwani of mmafighting reports.
ANALYSIS
The ordinance was delivered by the Kansas Athletic Commission and Guillard is now facing a one-year ban from the MMA. The 33-year-old lightweight fighter's knockout victory over David Rickels on July 22 was changed to a no-contest as a result of the recently delivered ruling. It remains to be seen if Guillard will appeal the suspension, which, if successful, could eliminate or reduce his suspension and reclaim his victory.

Guillard will face David "The Caveman" Rickels in a lightweight matchup in the co-main event of Bellator 159.
ANALYSIS
Guillard's winning days in the UFC currently seem like a distant memory, as he's lost three straight fights, including his first two with Bellator. A win over a respectable opponent such as Rickels could buy him a few more professional fights, but don't expect the 33-year-old to contend for a belt any time soon.

Guillard was defeated by Derek Campos via KO (Punches) at 0:32 of Round 2 at Bellator 149 on Friday in Houston, Texas.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be the end of the line for Guillard, as the enigmatic striker showed a more susceptible chin than in fights past. Guillard, whose weight-cutting issues have made him few friends in the sport, has now dropped three straight fights in the World Series of Fighting and Bellator promotions. Guillard is a hard 32 years old, as the UFC veteran has tallied a 32-16 record with two draws and two no-contests. Hanging up the gloves may be his best option at this point.

February 19, 2016
Guillard will enter his lightweight fight with Derek Campos as a -295 favorite at Bellator 149 on Friday in Houston, Texas.
ANALYSIS
Unbelievably (or, perhaps, believably at this point) Guillard missed weight for Friday's bout, tipping the scales at 158 pounds before dropping the mandatory two pounds. A veteran of 51 MMA bouts, "The Young Assassin" is a lethal striker with glaring susceptibility to submissions. Guillard, who has missed weight in three of his last four fights, will look to return to his winning ways at Campos' expense on Friday.
Melvin Guillard: Makes Bellator Debut August 28
LightweightBellator
July 15, 2015
Guillard will fight Brandon Girtz in his Bellator debut on August 28 in Temecula, California, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The long time UFC veteran will make his Bellator debut after a brief two-fight stint in the WSOF. Guillard is well past his prime, but he's still a big name in the world of MMA. He will get the main event spotlight in his debut with the company.
