RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Okami was defeated by Ovince Saint Preux via submission (von flue choke) at 1:50 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Japan.

Okami came in with the strategy of using grappling to defeat the much larger Saint Preux. However, this strategy backfired. Okami tried to sweep Saint Preux, but left himself wide open for the former Tennessee Volunteer's patented von flue choke. "Thunder" was choked unconscious and should not consider competing at light heavyweight after this fight.

Okami will face Ovince Saint-Preux in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 117 on September 22 in Saitama, Japan, Alexander Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Okami will be returning to the UFC after being released in September 2013. "Thunder" will be replacing "Shogun" Rua, who suffered a knee injury. The Japan native has seen success with the World Series of Fighting (Professional Fighters League) and won four straight. Back in 2011, Okami took on Anderson Silva for the middleweight title and lost. This short-notice chance could be a stepping stone back into the UFC for the 36-year-old. He is 34-10 overall.
Okami is scheduled to make his welterweight debut against Jon Fitch in the main event of WSOF 24 on October 17 in Connecticut, MMAJunkie.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

A long time middleweight, Okami will drop down to the 170-pound division for his fight against Fitch. In his last fight for the WSOF middleweight championship, Okami lost via fourth round TKO to David Branch. Okami is one of the better known names in the sport, but at 43-years old, his career is trending in the wrong direction.
