Gets dominated by Oskar Piechota in Poland
Light HeavyweightBellator
October 21, 2017
Wilson lost to Oskar Piechota via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday in Poland.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has a powerful straight left hand and a nice kicking game but he is simply too inactive to gain momentum. The 30-year-old did a good job of defending while Piechota had him on the ground but had difficulty finding a way back to his feet, and would have likely been tapped by an armbar if the final bell hadn't sounded. It feels like a fighter with Wilson's skillset should be doing a bit better in the UFC, as he falls to 1-3 in the organization after starching Chris Dempsey in his debut in 2015. While Wilson didn't seem gassed in his drop to middleweight, his lack of activity remains a problem, making it difficult to predict where he will fight next.

To fight Oskar Piechota at UFC Gdansk
Light HeavyweightBellator
September 10, 2017
Wilson will face Oskar Piechota in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 118 on October 21 in Gdansk, Alexander Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson (7-2) suffered his only two career losses in 2016. The southpaw has six KO/TKO victories but struggled with better opponents like Henrique da Silva and Ion Cutelaba. From his three fights with the UFC, he has proven that he can throw a high quantity of strikes, but not without taking serious punishment in the process

Wilson lost to Ion Cutelaba via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Portland, Ore.
ANALYSIS
Wilson's strategy appeared to be waiting for openings to land power shots. While he did land a few solid strikes, he lost a war of attrition against Ion Cutelaba. Early in the second round, Wilson caught a nasty low blow that nearly forced the fight to end.

Wilson lost to Henrique Da Silva via TKO (strikes) at 4:11 of Round 2 at UFC 199 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
What a difference a fight makes. After steamrolling Chris Dempsey in 50 seconds in his UFC debut last August, he could get little going in this fight against the debuting Brazilian. Wilson landed the only takedown of the bout and he landed more total strikes than Da Silva, but Da Silva was far more active and end result was Wilson tiring and being unable to defend himself after Da Silva mounted him late in Round 2. Many knowledgable people thought Wilson was a legitimate prospect in a dreary UFC light heavyweight division, but he took a clear step backwards on Saturday.

Wilson will face Frank Waisten at UFC 199 on June 4, Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson is coming off an impressive UFC debut during Fight Night 73 where he knocked out Chris Dempsey in just 50 seconds. His next bout will be the UFC debut of Waisten, who's currently touting a record of 10-0.
Jonathan Wilson: Smokes Chris Dempsey In UFC Debut Saturday
Light HeavyweightBellator
August 8, 2015
Wilson defeated Chris Dempsey via KO at 0:50 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
Wilson had to wait nearly eight months to make his UFC debut and when the time finally came, he ended up spending less than a minute in the octagon. The finish came when Wilson flattened Dempsey with a huge left hand and referee John McCarthy immediately jumped in to save Dempsey from any more punishment. It was an emphatic statement from Wilson in his debut with the company. The UFC can use as many talented light heavyweights as they can find right now.
