Joe Riggs: Defeats Ron Stallings Via Controversial DQ At UFC 191
Riggs defeated Ron Stallings via DQ (illegal up-kick) at 2:28 of Round 2 at UFC 191 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a controversial decision. Riggs suffered an eye poke early in the first round and struggled with it the rest of the fight. The finish came when Stallings landed an illegal up-kick, but the kick appeared to hit Riggs in the jaw, not his injured eye. As a result, it wasn't the kick that forced the stoppage of the bout and referee Jason Herzog appeared to make the wrong decision. Riggs was struggling with the eye injury the entire fight and although he struggled on the fight, he was close to getting a stoppage due to some heavy ground shots before Herzog called for the stoppage. Either way, it's a win for Riggs, but it was an awkward finish.

ANALYSIS
It will be the 57th professional fight for the 32-year-old Riggs. Since returning to the UFC in December after an eight-year hiatus, Riggs has lost back-to-back fights to Ben Saunders and Patrick Cote. He seems likely to be cut if he loses this one.
