JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has announced that Lagasse Jr. will pilot the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro SS during the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway, speedsport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The journeyman driver usually gets a start in the season-opener at Daytona due to his experience racing at this track over the years. Lagasse will pilot the No. 4 Chevrolet and fill in for regular driver, Ross Chastain, who will be racing for another team in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300. The veteran has 12 prior starts at Daytona, with his last two attempts netting sixth- and 14th-place finishes in 2017.

Has not raced in NASCAR since 2020. Lagasse is a free agent driver entering 2022.
Normally makes a couple Xfinity Series starts each season, but only made one truck series start in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lagasse's plans for 2021 have not been announced, although, it would not be surprising to see him race in both Daytona oval events.
The 38-year-old veteran has reduced his racing schedule to only making Xfinity starts in the two Daytona races each season. His plans for 2020 have not been announced, but it would not be surprising to see Lagasse start both Daytona events this season, and possibly for two different teams like he did in 2019.

Lagasse is a free agent driver in 2016.
Lagasse made a scant three starts in the Nationwide Series last season and he hopes to reverse that trend in the upcoming year. The 32-year-old has over 50 Nationwide Series starts in his resume with five Top-10 finishes to his credit. Lagasse will partner with crew chief Brad Parrott and Team SLR in 2013. This is the same team he finished last season with and picked up a season-best 20th-place finish in the season finale at Homestead. It is a young team, but the driving and crew chief experience is veteran. Hopefully the upcoming season will be one of many gains for Team SLR.
