Sammy Speaks has taken over the crew chief duties at the No. 72 CJM Racing for rookie driver Whitt, jayski.com reports. Doug George had been the crew chief since the team was purchased from Morgan Shepherd last season and is now listed as the car chief on the CMJ Racing site.

Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year contender Whitt will attempt to make his second ARCA race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway, Global Performance Group PR reports. The No. 51 Brandon Whitt Racing (BWR) Toyota will be among 70 competitors attempting to make the 41-car field for Saturday afternoon's ARCA 200.

Whitt, who will drive the No. 72 CJM Racing Chevrolet in Nextel Cup this season, plans to run as many as 15 Nextel Cup races in 2007, jayski.com reports.

Whitt will come to Speedweeks at Daytona with "observation" approval from NASCAR, nascar.com reports.

Whitt will make his bid for Rookie of the Year in 2007 driving the No. 72 CJM Racing Chevrolet. Whitt will attempt to make his Nextel Cup debut in the Daytona 500 this February, jayski.com reports.
