Wise has 156 career starts in NASCAR's premier series, recording a Top-10 finish at Talladega Superspeedway in 2015 for Phil Parsons Racing. However, last season did not go as planned for Wise, fighting and clawing just to qualify for 28 events for The Motorsports Group. It turned out 2016 was the California native's last full year as a stock car driver. Wise has retired from racing, frontstretch.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wise has taken on a driver coaching position with Chip Ganassi Racing. He has been mentoring and instructing with the team's development drivers, Brennan Poole and Tyler Reddick. Wise made well over 300 combined starts among NASCAR's top three touring divisions and claimed nine Top-10 finishes in those starts.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2014
2008
The journeyman driver is entering his seventh season of competition in NASCAR's top division. It's hard to believe that Wise is now over the 150-start plateau. He spent all of last season racing for The Motorsports Group in their No. 30 Chevrolet. Wise would only qualify for 28 of the 36 events so it wasn't a full schedule. In fact, down the stretch things got so bad that the No. 30 team sat out the last couple races of 2016. Wise will not return to this team and he's looking to fill his schedule. As a driver on the free agent market with over 150 starts to his credit, Wise has some marketable skills and experience. He should land somewhere between now and the Daytona 500, but we don't expect it to be a very big or resource-filled team.
Wise is a free agent driver in 2016.
Wise spent much of last season racing with Front Row Motorsports’ third team. No word as of this writing if he will return to this team, but it is assumed that he will. The effort was a total start-and-park operation in 2012 and that would likely be the same scenario in 2013. Wise has shown flashes of ability in NASCAR’s lower divisions, but he will need a better-equipped race team to show his wares in the Sprint Cup Series.
