Matt Cassel: Taking Over for Brady -  9/8/2008 12:10:14 PM

Update:
Cassel will take over as the Patriots' starting QB now that Tom Brady has been placed on IR.

Recommendation:
His lack of game experience is a concern, since he didn't even start at USC, but Cassel is familiar with the team's offense and he has some great playmakers (Randy Moss, Wes Welker) to throw to, so it's not like the Patriots will abandon the passing game. Look for a more balanced attack to be deployed, but as obvious as it is that Cassel is not Brady, he is in a situation where he could put up solid fantasy numbers. The team will bring in another QB -- probably a veteran -- for depth, but it's unlikely that Cassel will lose the job to anything other than an injury.
