Yao (broken foot) said his chances of playing for China this summer in the FIBA World Championships in Japan are "50-50," the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation:
Yao recently removed the walking boot from his foot and will ramp up his rehabilitation next week. Doctors have ordered him not to play basketball until Aug. 1 with the tournament starting Aug. 19. "If I really cannot get into the best shape, I better not go, because the world championship is a very big thing for most of the (Chinese) players," said Yao.
