Drogba announced his retirement from football on his official twitter account.

Drogba's 20-year lustrous career ended as a playing co-owner of the second division Phoenix Rising after scoring 14 goals in 22 matches there. The 40-year-old had spells with Guingamp, Marseille, Chelsea (twice) and Montreal Impact among others winning the Premier League four times and the Champions League once all with Chelsea as his biggest accomplishments. The iconic striker bagged 210 goals in 497 career matches. He also had 65 scores in 104 international matches for Ivory Coast while taking part in three World Cups.
