The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended de Jong for three games and issued an undisclosed fine for his foul against Darlington Nagbe in Los Angeles' match against Portland on Apr. 10, LAGalaxy.com reports.

De Jong will miss matches against Houston on Apr. 15, Real Salt Lake on Apr. 23 and at Sporting Kansas City on May 1. Fantasy owners should look for the rehabbing Steven Gerrard to be rushed back into the club's starting lineup as a result.

Coach Bruce Arena confirmed that De Jong will be suspended for the game against Houston on Friday.

The suspension was expected after De Jong's tackle on Darlington Nagbe in Sunday's game against Portland. While it is confirmed that he will miss Friday's game, it has yet to be announced how long De Jong's suspension will be, but it will likely be more than just the one game.

De Jong is expected to be suspended for his dangerous tackle on the Timbers' Darlington Nagbe during Sunday's match, according to Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated.

De Jong was given a yellow card for the incident, which was very surprising given the severity of the tackle and the fact that Nagbe had to be stretchered off the pitch. The length of De Jong's suspension is unclear, though it looks likely to be more than just one game.

De Jong twisted his ankle toward the end of the game, but he was able to train fully Monday. Additionally, he noted that he has no problem playing on turf, as there was some concern he may sit out because of BC Place's surface.

De Jong signed with the Galaxy on Saturday on a free transfer from AC Milan, the Los Angeles Times reports.

De Jong was released from the final two-and-a-half years of his contract with the Italian giants, allowing him to sign a one-year deal with Los Angeles for a non-DP spot, though it is believed the club used target allocation money. The Galaxy have made number of big-name signings this offseason, including Ashley Cole and Jelle Van Damme, though they are clearly all on the latter stages of their careers.

Leicester City are expected to make a 2 million transfer bid for De Jong, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder played in the Premier League with Manchester City from 2009 to 2012, winning the FA Cup in 2011. Leicester is looking to fill a potential void in defensive midfield options should Gokhan Inler leave.
