Aguero was expected to return from a knee injury in about a month, but secondary scans revealed he twisted a knee ligament that could take longer to recover from, reports the Daily Mail.

A twisted ligament is similar to the injury that David Silva suffered at the end of October, which he is still recovering from. Manchester City will likely have to rely on Edin Dzeko up front in the meantime.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Aguero is expected to be sidelined for at least one month after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's Premier League match against Everton, The Guardian reports.

Aguero will undergo additional scans either Monday or Tuesday, but the club is confident he did not suffer a major ligament tear. With Stevan Jovetic out with a hamstring injury and Edin Dzeko not fully fit following a calf ailment, Man City will be very light up front for Wednesday's huge Champions League match against Roma.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Aguero suffered a knee injury during Saturday's match against Everton and he is unlikely to play in Tuesday's Champions League match against Roma, manager Manuel Pellegrini said after the match.

Aguero suffered the injury less than two minutes into the match and had to be taken off moments later. Jose Pozo replaced him for much of the match, though Edin Dzeko will likely start Tuesday's huge tie with Roma.

Aguero had two goals and an assist during Manchester City's 4-1 win over Sunderland on Wednesday.

Aguero's red-hot form continues, as he now has a Premier League-best 14 goals in 14 appearances this season, while adding five more goals in four Champions League matches. If there's one thing to watch out for, it's that he's been heavily-used of late thanks to Edin Dzeko being sidelined with a calf injury, so it wouldn't be surprising if he got a rest, or at least was limited, in Saturday's match against Everton.

Aguero took a game-high five shots, with one on goal, and picked up two assists during Manchester City's 3-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.

While his league-leading 12 goals is certainly an impressive figure, the assists Sunday were actually Aguero's first two of the Premier League season (he has one during Champions League play as well). Up next is a Wednesday trip to Sunderland, who held Chelsea scoreless Saturday for the first time all season.

Aguero scored a hat trick in Tuesday's 3-2 win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Aguero underlined his importance to his side by opening the scoring before netting twice in the closing five minutes to ensure City can still qualify for the knockout stages. The Argentinean has five goals in five Champions League games in addition to his 12 in the Premier League.

Despite being held out of training Monday, Aguero is in the squad and expected to start Tuesday's Champions League match against Bayern Munich, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Aguero has been magnificent this season, leading the Premier League with 12 goals, while adding two more in four Champions League appearances. With Edin Dzeko sidelined with a calf injury, Aguero and Stevan Jovetic are the only healthy strikers for Man City, which could mean plenty of playing time.

Aguero bagged a brace during Manchester City's 2-2 draw with QPR on Saturday, giving him a league-leading 12 goals on the season.

Chelsea's Diego Costa matched Aguero's total of 10 earlier in the day, only for the Argentine to add some distance late. Aguero has been absolutely dominant this season and will look to extend his lead Nov. 22 against Swansea City after the international break.
