Liverpool announced the signing of Milner to the club Thursday, pending a medical exam.

The former Manchester City midfielder will complete the transfer on the first of July if everything goes well with his medical exam. He's coming off a solid season with eight goals and eight assists in all competitions (five and seven, respectively, in Premier League play), and while Manchester City were interested in bringing him back, the potential playing time offered by LFC was too good to pass up. He joins a somewhat crowded attacking midfield that includes the likes of Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Jordon Ibe, but the 29-year-old Milner figures to get consistent playing time regardless.

Milner (knee) came on in the 56th minute of Manchester City's 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Milner has dealt with knee soreness for much of 2015 and was even held out of last weekend's match against West Ham. Given that City continue to fight for a Champions League spot, he may have to continue fighting through the ailment, especially with Yaya Toure now battling a hamstring issue.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Friday that Milner (knee) is fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

Milner has battled knee issues for much of 2015, missing games here and there, including last weekend's tie with West Ham. With Samir Nasri out because of a muscular injury, Milner could slot right back into the starting XI.

Milner (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's match against West Ham.

Milner has been dealing with a knee issue for a number of weeks, and while he has been able to play through it, manager Manuel Pellegrini simply stated Friday that Milner is unfit to play. Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas could occupy the wings Sunday in place of Milner.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said Thursday that he has no injury issues ahead of Monday's match against Crystal Palace, indicating that Milner has recovered from his knee injury.

Milner did not travel to Turin for England's international friendly against Italy due to the issue, though it was never considered serious. However, even a full return to fitness doesn't guarantee a start against Palace, even with Samir Nasri seemingly in the doghouse.

Milner will not travel to Turin for Tuesday's international friendly against Italy because of a knee issue, the Daily Mirror reports.

Milner has been dealing with a knee problem for the past few weeks, so it's not entirely surprising he will sit out the friendly. He will use the time off to recover and hope to be ready April 6 to face Crystal Palace.
