Vidic underwent surgery Wednesday for a slipped disc.

Inter did not specify a return timetable, but reports indicate he could miss anywhere from three to six months. If that timetable holds true, Vidic could be out until February, a big blow to Inter as they look to return to the upper tier of Serie A.

Vidic will play his final home match for Manchester United on Tuesday against Hull before he moves to Inter Milan, and said he has no regrets and gave the club 100 percent during his time in Manchester, reports Sky Sports.

Vidic said nothing but good things about his time with United, adding that he became a man at the club. He won 15 trophies in his time in Manchester and will have made 300 appearances with the side by the final game of the season.

Vidic returned from a three-match red card ban and a groin injury to start and play all 90 minutes of Manchester United's 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The defender did take a shot during the game, although it was the only stat of note in the non-clean sheet effort. With Manchester United all but out of a spot in the Champions League, manager David Moyes could play around with a number of different back four options, as Vidic will be leaving for Inter Milan this summer, having already signed a pre-contract to play for the Serie A side.

Vidic was held out of Wednesday's Champions League match against Olympiakos due to a groin injury, James Ducker of The Times reports.

Vidic picked up a red card in last weekend's match against Liverpool, which means he'll miss this weekend's match against West Ham. The severity of the groin injury isn't known yet, so it's possible he'll miss the Manchester derby on March 25.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Vidic will miss Saturday's Premier League match at West Ham after picking up a red card during Sunday's match against Liverpool.

Vidic, who already announced he will join Inter Milan in the summer, hasn't been a great fantasy option this season, and missing the West Ham match surely doesn't help matters. The good news for United is that he will return for the Manchester derby on March 25.

Inter Milan announced Wednesday that Vidic will join the club this summer.

Vidic is currently captaining Manchester United, who are struggling to make it into the top-four in the Premier League this season. Inter are currently fifth in Serie A, 11 points out of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Inter Milan is expected to confirm that Vidic has agreed to a contract with the team this week, reports the Daily Mail.

Vidic announced earlier in the month that he would be leaving Manchester United at the end of the current season. He said he would not leave for another team in the Premier League, and Milan have consistently been at the front of the rumor pack. The agreement with Milan is expected to be for the next three years.
