Michu has been ruled out of Saturday's match against Aston Villa due to his ongoing ankle injury, the club's official web site reports. "He's nearly there, but he just can't seem to get that swelling down," head coach Garry Monk said. "He is going to see the national doctor in Spain, so we will know more after today. I'm still hopeful that he will be able to play a part in the remainder of our season, but we have to be careful because it's important he gets the rest and comes back as strong as ever."

After a stellar season for the Swans last year, Michu has been a ghost this season, mostly due to ongoing injuries. At this point, he's likely to be more concerned with getting healthy for the World Cup.

Michu (ankle) will be given a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's match against Newcastle, although he is not expected to be fit, the South Wales Evening Post reports.

Michu's ankle has bothered him for most of the season, limiting him to only 17 Premier League appearances thus far. After scoring 18 league goals last season in 35 games, Michu has two goals and two assists this season.

Michu will not play Sunday against Chelsea due to an ankle injury, according to Gareth Vincent of the South Wales Evening Post.

There was no indication leading up to the match that Michu would miss out, so the news was a bit of a surprise. It certainly won't help the Swans against one of the better defensive teams in the Premier League.

Michu played 73 minutes and got an assist in Swansea's 3-0 victory over Norwich on Saturday.

Michu finally returned to the score sheet by recording his second assist of the season. The Spaniard managed to play ten more minutes than his previous match, and if he can build on this performance, he becomes a nice fantasy option in formats where his price is still depressed.

Michu made his return from an ankle injury, coming on in the 63rd minute of Swansea's 1-2 loss to West Brom on Saturday.

Michu has been on the sideline since December and will likely take a few matches to shake off the rust. The Spaniard has had a disappointing season thus far, after a breakout 2012-2013 campaign where he scored 18 goals for The Swans.

Michu (ankle) won't be traveling to Italy with Swansea for their upcoming Europa League match against Napoli, Wales Online reports.

Michu is hoping to train next week but has had a rocky recovery so far. The Swans definitely could use the Spanish star, as they currently sit only four points from relegation in a tightly-packed Premier League table.

Michu (ankle) was unable to pass a fitness test ahead of Sunday's Premier League match against Liverpool.

Michu was held out of last week's Europa League match against Napoli, but was expected to return at Anfield. It didn't happen, but he'll try to gain enough fitness before the return trip to Italy this week.
