Chambers (illness) was available off the bench for Sunday's win over Manchester City, but he went unused.

Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal started out wide for the Gunners, while Kieran Gibbs was the only defender to get off the bench. Chambers was held out of last Sunday's match against Stoke with the illness, but it appears to be behind him now. He seems to have an opportunity for more playing time, with Mathieu Debuchy out for three months with a shoulder injury, but Bellerin has played well enough that he may stick to the spot for the time being.

Chambers was held out of Sunday's match against Stoke City due to an illness, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed after the match.

Chambers could be in line for a spot back in the starting XI, as starting right back Mathieu Debuchy dislocated his shoulder during the match. Hector Bellerin spelled Debuchy on Sunday, but Chambers is the likely regular replacement, when he's back to fitness.

Chambers picked up two yellow cards in Saturday's loss to Stoke City and he will be suspended for next weekend's match against Newcastle.

The blow to Arsenal will be lessened if Mathieu Debuchy can come back quickly from his ankle injury, though manager Arsene Wenger likely didn't want to rush him back after such a long layoff. Chambers will be eligible to play Dec. 21 against Liverpool at Anfield.

Chambers is ineligible to play in Arsenal's Premier League match against Hull City on Oct. 18 after the international break due to yellow card accumulation.

A pretty impressive run of yellow cards for Chambers, who hasn't even started every match this season. His absence is a big hit to the Gunners, as he was already starting due to the absence of Mathieu Debuchy (ankle). Manager Arsene Wenger has a few different options to replace Chambers at leftback, including using youngster Hector Bellerin or moving veteran Nacho Monreal, who has dealt with a back injury recently.

Chambers returned from a bout of tonsillitis to register his first clean sheet of the season in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Chambers was held out of Tuesday's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund due to the illness, but he is expected to be a mainstay in the starting XI with Mathieu Debuchy potentially out for three months with an ankle injury. Up next is an enticing home match against Tottenham next Saturday.
