Chambers officially joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan from Arsenal on Tuesday, The Guardian reports.

Chambers has failed to establish himself as a regular for the Gunners since arriving in 2014, and the signing of Shkrodan Mustafi added another name in front of his on the depth chart, making a loan move a logical option. Middlesbrough currently have just five defenders in the first-team squad, so Chambers could very well step into a starting role after he gets comfortable.

Gylfi Sigurdsson wasn't fit enough to start last weekend against Burnley, but he should be in the starting lineup this weekend against Hull City, presenting an excellent fantasy opportunity.

Chambers is due to undergo a medical with Middlesbrough ahead of finalizing a season-long loan, reports Sky Sports.

The defender joined Arsenal in 2014 and has made 59 appearances for the club, but is nearing a move away for the current season. If completed on time the deal could allow Chambers to make his Middlesbrough debut against Crystal Palace on September 10, after the international break.

Chambers won two tackles, made three interceptions, and scored a goal on two shots during Sunday's 4-3 loss to Liverpool.

Chambers stood out on the offensive end and scored the goal that gave the Gunners a glimmer of hope at the end of the match, but he struggled mightily at the defensive end and was directly involved in three of Liverpool's goals. Chambers could continue to see playing time in the early going, as Per Mertesacker and Gabriel are out with injuries, but Laurent Koscielny's imminent return and the likelihood of Arsenal bringing in a more experienced center back could see him make his way back to the bench in short order. It remains to be seen if he will feature in the starting XI next week versus Leicester.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Chambers has been included in the starting XI for Sunday's match against Liverpool.

Chambers will start at centre-back as Arsene Wenger attempts to sort out his injury-decimated central defence. He will start the season partnering with Rob Holding. It won't come easy against a dangerous Liverpool attack.

Chambers is closing in on securing a loan move to Watford, according to the Daily Mail.

The defender has found playing time at Arsenal limited. He made two Premier League appearances for the London club last season, but is seeking opportunities to play more consistently to continue his development.

Chambers picked up a yellow card while keeping a clean sheet in Monday's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.

With Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta injured and the second match in 48 hours, Chambers was called upon to play holding midfielder and acquitted himself well in his first start there. He's been subbing in at this holding spot with Coquelin hurt, but recorded his first clean sheet since his only other start—at center back—on Aug. 24 against Liverpool. The yellow card was his second of the season, but Chambers' playing time is too erratic to worry about discipline.

Chambers recorded a clean sheet in his first start of the season in Monday's goalless draw against Liverpool.

Pressed into duty thanks to the illness to Per Mertesacker and the back injury to Laurent Koscielny, Chambers was tasked with manning the center of the Arsenal defense alongside Gabriel, something that's only happened in the preseason. Chambers at times looked overmatched, attempting to play cheeky balls inside the team's own box instead of clearing it out. While he looked steadier in the second half, the natural fullback will need to adapt quickly to the rigors of playing center back.

Chambers (illness) was available off the bench for Sunday's win over Manchester City, but he went unused.

Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal started out wide for the Gunners, while Kieran Gibbs was the only defender to get off the bench. Chambers was held out of last Sunday's match against Stoke with the illness, but it appears to be behind him now. He seems to have an opportunity for more playing time, with Mathieu Debuchy out for three months with a shoulder injury, but Bellerin has played well enough that he may stick to the spot for the time being.
