Navas was available off the bench but did not feature in Manchester City's 2-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Navas is stuck behind Samir Nasri on the depth chart, and as long as the latter is fit, Navas isn't likely to see many Premier League starts.

Navas, who battled an ankle injury toward the end of the Premier League season, was not named to the Spain 23-man squad for the World Cup, the Daily Mail reports. "It breaks my heart to leave Navas behind," said coach Vicente Del Bosque. "But he has not been right for the past two months and I prefer to take someone who is 100 per cent."

Navas' inclusion would probably have been too much of an injury risk, given that Del Bosque did decide to name striker Diego Costa to the squad, despite his recent troubles with a hamstring injury. Navas is surely disappointed, but he will now have the entire summer to rest his ankle in preparation for next season.

Navas (ankle) is expected to be available to play Sunday against West Ham, the club's official web site reports.

Navas is a solid midfielder for Manchester City, although he is rightfully overshadowed by fellow midfielders Yaya Toure, David Silva and Samir Nasri.

Navas is suffering from an ankle injury and he will not play Monday against West Brom, ESPN UK reports.

Navas was held out of Wednesday's draw with Sunderland and it appears his ankle is a little more worrisome than initially expected. It is unclear when he will return, but he adds to an already injured midfield that also includes Yaya Toure (groin) and David Silva (ankle).

Navas scored in the 33rd minute of Manchester City's 4-2 win over Cardiff City on Saturday.

Navas was in the starting lineup in place of the injured Samir Nasri (knee), and he continues to show why he deserved more time with the first team. The goal was his fourth this season, which he's coupled with six assists. The midfielder has been excellent at setting up his teammates this season, recording 11 assists in all competitions.

Navas (knee) is in the starting XI for Wednesday's FA Cup match against Blackburn.

Navas had a little issue with his knee recently, but it's not bad enough to keep him out Wednesday. He will likely get more playing time over the next month, with Samir Nasri sidelined with a knee injury, and Yaya Toure (who is out Wednesday) battling an ongoing back issue.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said Navas "has a little problem with his knee" but added the team is just being cautious by holding him out of Wednesday's Capital One Cup against West Ham.

Navas has been an effective fantasy player this season, scoring three goals and recording six assists in 18 appearances. He's been in-and-out of the City starting XI, but has been playing well enough lately to garner more starts.

Navas assisted on Edin Dzeko's 66th minute goal during Manchester City's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Navas has been a solid fantasy contributor lately, recording a goal and three assists in his last four Premier League appearances. He's making a strong case for a permanent spot in the starting XI, with his six assists on the year trailing only Wayne Rooney (nine) and Mesut Ozil (seven).
