Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Wanyama on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee, Sky Sports reports.

Wanyama would bring quality depth in the key holding midfielder position ahead of a critical campaign. With Tottenham willing to chase the Premier League title again and participating in the Champions League, there's probably going to be enough playing time for all three Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele and Wanyama.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wanyama is set to make 11m switch from Southampton to Tottenham, according to Sky Sports.

Wanyama, reportedly, flew Sunday to London to undergo medical exams and finalise a four-year deal with the Spurs. The transfer will be part of Spurs' attempt to deepen their squad ahead of a heavy-duty campaign coming up. Wanyama will challenge Eric Dyer for the starting spot at holding midfielder, though, there will be plenty of action for both of them with Tottenham's Champions League participation this year. Wanyama is not much of a fantasy producer, though, finishing last season with one goal, one assist, four yellow and three red cards in 30 Premier League appearances (29 starts).

Wanyama (ribs) is starting Saturday against Aston Villa.

Wanyama left last weekend's match due to his injury, but he returned to training this week and will take his regular spot in the starting XI, though his defensive responsibilities limit his fantasy upside.

Wanyama (ribs) is fit to play Saturday against Aston Villa, manager Ronald Koeman said Thursday.

Wanyama left last weekend's match due to the injury, but he returned to training Wednesday and is good to face the league bottom dwellers.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wanyama scored with his only shot on goal Saturday in a 3-1 win versus Newcastle.

The goal marks his first of the campaign and it came off a short corner in which he found the ball in way too much space in the Newcastle box. Wanyama is a very quality holding midfielder, but he's not one to put up huge fantasy numbers. Best look elsewhere for midfield production for next week.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wanyama has been suspended for the next five matches after picking up his third red card of the season last weekend against West Ham.

The hard-nosed midfielder saw red after delivering a poorly-timed tackle on Dimitri Payet, and he appears set to sit until the Saints' Mar. 19 match against Liverpool. Oriol Romeu has deputized as a holding midfielder at times this season, although the club could also turn to Jordy Clasie in Wanyama's absence.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wanyama had an assist in Saturday's match before being sent off with a red card in the 54th minute.

Wanyama fed a ball to Maya Yoshida in the ninth minute for the game deciding goal, then was later sent off with a red card for a poor challenge on Dimitri Payet. This was his first assist so far this season in 22 Premier League appearances.

Wanyama (ankle) is starting Saturday against Crystal Palace.

Wanyama missed last weekend's match against Aston Villa due to the ailment, but he'll slot back into the starting lineup in his return. While that's a plus, his fantasy value is rather limited in most formats because of his role as a holding midfielder.
